?????????

Baseball certainly generates millions of dollars in revenues. Not quite enough to cover expenses, but it’s fairly close.

It's difficult to understand why LSU MBB would EVER get more revenue from TV than WBB.

I guess if someone is not able to understand how profit sharing works, it's understandable. But it's been explained enough in this very thread that if someone doesn't understand why MBB gets the second most revenue sharing, they are either too stupid or blinded by their dislike for the program or coach.

The only reason we don't take basketball seriously is because LSU hasn't been good at it.

The "passion" for college baseball is only at LSU because the program is dominant.

When I was a kid before Skip got here, literally DOZENS attended the games. You could find bigger crowds at some little league games. I'm not even sure that they bothered to sell tickets.

Imagine LSU being ranked consistently in the top 25 in basketball, making the tournament regularly, and having some deep runs 40-50% of the time.

It's not far fetched. There are more Oates, Goldens and Wades out there. A good start would be to axe this walking corpse "leading" the program currently.

I fully understand that's not practical now, but it should have been done after last season, and better be done after he produces another of his patented SEC seasons this year.

Oh, no doubt about that. Anyone that was around in the 70's and early 80's knows that, but we're in the minority here I'm sure in that regard.

Skip is the reason, was the reason and will always be the reason the passion is how it is not only at LSU but the rest of the state and to a large extent where there is some pockets of passion in other SEC schools Skip is not only partially, but IMHO largely responsible for that is well, and I could cite the reasons I believe that.

Don't get me started on LSU hoops, I'm one of the dozen here that really care still and it's killing me.

This is one of the more ignorant posts I have seen but unfortunately it is misinformation shared by most baseball fans. I guess this is one of the reasons so many baseball fans are hostile towards us poor, long suffering basketball fans. The tv revenue is put into different pots by conference by the NCAA. The SEC then divides the money up equally among all the teams regardless of performance, although the higher performing get a bigger cut.

Despite what most baseball fans think, basketball draws many more viewers nationwide than baseball. Baseball is a Minor Sport by that criteria. Therefore you get less money than basketball and usually run a deficit, whereas basketball always supports itself. Men's that is. Women's runs a big deficit.

Ruffino is saying the LSU baseball program is allocated less money than I think 8 other Sec baseball programs. How is that a sec basketball tv revenue deal that is causing that for LSU? How is Arkansas, Tenn etc. allocating more money to their baseball program than we are? It has to be going somewhere else in excess of what is required.

Everyone knows basketball brings in more revenue no matter how bad the team is because of the NCAA tourney

I'm willing to bet LSU fans watched way more baseball than basketball since Will Wade left, viewership #'s wouldn't even be close

yes, they can divide it up however they see fit
they have a maximum cap that they can not exceed, and only real rule is if you give any of it any sport, then all sports have to get at least some of it.
