I would say Joey Belle as well, but I have tough time after those three.

Yea , I cant imagine Tommy Tanks with one of those old bats Furniss used.

Furniss didn’t use the -5 super hot bats. He used the -3 gold Easton. Still a hot bat though.

Take a look at the numbers being lit up around college baseball now (Condon, Caglione). The bats and balls are a lot closer to the late 90s than to the Alex Bregman and Mason Katz dead era of the 2010s.

Never forget this one... LEGENDARY!

Thanks for posting that. I had never actually seen it. When I was watching that game last year, just when the pitcher threw the pitch, my TV station cut away to a severe weather advisory. When they came back to the game it was over and we were celebrating.

Put a circa '97 -5 in those hands and he would do fricking damage

He would hit oppo home runs every game

God that would be fun to watch.

It was. It was SOOOOOOO much fun to watch!!!!

Last 10 or so years has also seen an influx of pre-high school aged kids training like pros. Stronger, more polished, and played in front of more crowds by the time they get to campus

For anyone wondering, the NCAA career record is 100 by Pete Incaviglia who did that in 3 years. Only 3 players have hit more career homers in 3 years than White.

The fact that he had 48 in a year is insane

And than Condon has 35 while hitting in the mid 400's when the average college stuff is so much better than when Pete played is also insane

five home runs behind Eddie Furniss’ LSU career record.

He is 5 behind Eddy Furnis for career home runs but not for the LSU record for career home runs, he has 48 as a Tiger. He hit 24 last season and 24 so far this season.

Here is the list he is chasing right now.

Pete Incaviglia - 213 games - 100 hrs
Jeff Ledbetter - 262 games - 97 hrs
Todd Greene - 240 games - 88 hrs
Eddy Furniss - 265 games - 80 hrs
Frank Fazzini - 234 games - 79 hrs
Brad Cresse - 236 games - 78 hrs
George Canale - 180 games - 76 hrs
Chad Sutter - 244 games - 75 hrs
Tommy White - 178 games - 75 hrs

He could end up catching Furniss but Greene would be a long shot at best. I'll say it now, if Tanks catches Greene, LSU wins back-to-back natties

Tigerdroppings thread
I posted this about Steven Milam on 2/25
quote:

I am thinking he(Milam) will be a very solid fielder. This is not easy to find at middle infield.
And Nicholas responded
quote:

That’s solid praise but I would wait until sec play before you put him in that lofty status
Nicholas was one of the whiniest LSU fans through last year’s championship run along with Magician2. He could not bring himself to admit Milam was a “solid” midfielder. I never said he would be phenomenal, which he has had a really good defensive freshman year. What a joke.

Just looking at what White has done is so many fewer games than most of the others

'97 -5

I thought it was -5 for highschool and -3 for college then. No wonder I never homered in highschool, I was swinging a college bat.

Bregs played short at LSU. Hale played 3rd for those teams.

Really amazing when you think about it. Furniss is a legend, and he did it in 4 years with the hot bats of the 90s.
