Per Baseball America regarding Tommy Tanks place in homerun history

LSU third baseman Tommy White broke the 21st century career home run record, his eighth-inning grand slam was his 75th career home run. With that home run, he passed former Florida star Matt LaPorta, who hit 74 home runs from 2004-07. White is now tied with Tulane Chad Sutter’s for eighth all time and five home runs behind Eddie Furniss’ LSU career record.

Now that’s impressive. Holy shite.

Not buying it. I distinctly remember Laporta being at Florida for at least 8 years
Also, my downvote was for nicholastiger, not Tanks

Some of the changes in legal bats has made a difference over the years

Wow he is a great for sure. Dude has carried this team in many ways. Will be a huge void that will need to be filled next year.

This is worded kind of odd. He's 5 behind Furniss' career (80), but not as an LSU player. Tommy has 48 as a Tiger so far, but 27 before he came to LSU.
What Tommy has done is very impressive and he's done it in only 3 years. If he stayed another year (he won't), he could cross 100 since he isn't done this season.

Never forget this one... LEGENDARY!

He's probably a top 5 position player who ever played here. Crews and Todd Walker are the only 2 I know I'd put in front of him. You could argue Furniss, but I think Tommy is better. Put a circa '97 -5 in those hands and he would do fricking damage. Would have easily hit over 100 home runs in only 3 years.

Yea , I cant imagine Tommy Tanks with one of those old bats Furniss used.

Tommy is the best 3rd baseman in lsu history at this point. Even better than Ivan nacaratta

Born to play baseball him.

Tommy white has had a way better career than Alex bregman. Not relatively close either

I'm not sure why you are getting the DV. I thought the same thing. It's not like if TT hits 6 more, which is very possible, he will break the LSU record. Probably should have just said LSU's Eddie Furniss. Does the average BA reader know that TT didn't start at LSU?

God that would be fun to watch.

I would say Joey Belle as well, but I have tough time after those three. And I believe this speaks volumes about LSU baseball having a ton of great but not elite position players over the years.
