are the same people that complain that the football team is too conservative on offense. Make up your damn mind. Can't have it both ways.

I’m not complaining about the alley oop and I think the football team is too conservative on offense. So I just blew that one up for you.

I don’t understand your logic anyway.

Eh. In that instance it was pretty stupid. If it would’ve worked it would’ve been incredible. But you can’t do that in that situation

It was a showboat play. Completely unnecessary

Your logic is extremely flawed. So, if I complain about a conservative offense, that means I have to want every play call to be a trick play?

There is a middle ground. It doesn’t have to be one extreme or the other.

The alley hoop was the equivalent of kicking a 60 yard field goal on 2nd and 5 with a minute to go. Failing to see the analogy here.

The alley oop isn’t a show boat play if you have players that can execute it. It’s often an easy bucket.

We missed 3 shots at the end to win it. Smart missed a wide open shot and Naz missed from 5 feet. Alley oop didn't lose the game.

Well, it didn't win the game for us and it helped Arkansas win the game because it was done with so much time left that they didn't have to rush things on their possession.

If you ask 10 basketball analysts what they thought of that play, all 10 would say “you don’t do that in that situation.”

Call it stupid, call it overly aggressive, call it bad decision making... call it whatever you want, but it wasn’t the time or situation to try that. It’s like throwing a Hail Mary on 3rd and 1 with the lead.

All that said, it’s over... LSU will rebound and finish this season strong. It was one loss, nothing more. And quite frankly, LSU was fortunate to even have a chance to win at the end. Does that play make him a bad player?... of course not. Does that play make him a stupid player?.. of course not. It was just one bad decision at a crucial moment. He’s a great player, will continue to be a great player, and is certainly not the first nor will he be the last great player to make a mistake.

But there’s really no defending that play in that particular moment... you don’t do that.

And it's not like Waters has never executed that pass before, he just made a bad one in a big spot

If it’s done from somewhere near the 3 pt line, it’s a low risk high percentage play.

They did it from half court. That’s really tough to execute.

I like it. A little better pass we win. Best play is a dunk

This is a mind-numbingly stupid comparison. First off it’s two different sports. Also, being aggressive and being smart in a given situation aren’t mutually exclusive. I love Tremont but that was a poor decision in a big spot.

From half court? It was not a good decision.

Would you complain if LSU was up by 3 with a minute to play and threw an interception on Hail Mary on 1st down from our own 30 yard line? That's basically what you're comparing here.

When winning at the end of a game, especially when you feel you are in control, it comes down to mitigating risks, and that was the exact opposite of that.

If the game was tied it was a risk reward play but LSU was ahead by 1 with 36 seconds left in game. Arkansas would have fouled someone if waters doesn’t pass it.

If you don’t want to take the fans’ perspective that it wasn’t a high percentage play perhaps you’ll take will wade’s take. Below is his postgame quote specifically about that alley oop. I think it’s an eloquent way of taking some of the blame, while saying it wasn’t a good decision and still supporting tremont in the future, all at the same time.

“I probably should have called a timeout and got us in a set there. Tremont’s going to make the right play nine out of 10 times. He's our guy, and we trust him.”
