I'm very surprised to see that stat on Arnold. I haven't read anything on him that suggested he was a power hitter.

From the looks of it, we may have some real LHP options this year. Kaminer had some good moments last year. Hasty was said to have the most movement on his pitches of anyone on the staff, if he can take a step forward with his command/control he could really help. Coleman has really good stuff and seems to be a little further along with his command. Brady fared a little better this fall than I was expecting considering he's coming in as a walk-on late addition from a JUCO league that doesn't get recruited as hard as others.

Arnold was well thought of coming in. If I recall he was standing out last fall too

Arnold was a late round draft choice out of high school. I just haven't read or seen anything suggesting that kind of power. You can't fake those exit velocities. I'm thinking he spent some time in the weight room. That could be a big addition to our lineup.

It doesn’t automatically equate to power, because if you look at the other data, he isn’t listed. More than likely line drive outs, which is still promising & corrects itself into more fruitful outcomes usually.

I know everyone improved their pitching this year with the shortened draft but I don't see any weakness. We have some big time starters, closers, lefties, bullpen, experience and a solid signing class. Natty or bust.

Eddie Smith tweeted out a picture of the Ted Williams Science of Hitting book last week. It's an indication at least that they might be moving away from Paul's prior teaching style of telling everyone to hit it on the ground. Ted Williams was preaching "launch angle" before launch angle was a measurable data point.

If that's the case, Arnold would be a prime candidate for a breakout season.

Our pitching staff is legit and has the tools to be great. The issue is that our pitching staff is one of probably 6 or 7 in the SEC that can be legitimately great staffs.

He broke a rib on the third day of Fall practice last year which ended his Fall season after only two scrimmages. He had surgery to have the rib removed.

plus Florida, Tennessee

Then you have Alabama with one of the top returning starters (though depth behind that may be questionable).

And Auburn and A&M which may not have the names they've had in the past, but have a track record of developing pitchers.
