Dugas will be a factor
If nothing else you can DH him
Look just because these fr are in line to start now they still have to do it when the lights come on
If Morgan struggles then you put Beloso back at 1st and Dugas competes in left

Same thing if Gio or Crews struggle, competition doesn't go away

They all come back for practice and scrimmages start back up immediately in Jan/Feb leading up to season

According to Wilson Alexander Jaden Hill’s first pitch of the night came in at 95 mph

Gio played an unbelievable center last night. Made two catches one over his head one to deep center at the wall. The other was to left center gap against the wall. Both hits I thought would be extra base hits that he robbed them of.

Saffard at 3rd made some really good plays as well. Had a lot of range and very strong arm.

Morgan at first was not throwing overhand. Everything was underhand, made several really good scoops but missed one toward the end when the game was tight, but it was a seemingly short armed throw.

The triple in the first inning was a liner right over the first base bag that rattled around the pitchers bench in right.

It sure felt good to be in the box and even better to hear a ball being hit.

Thank you for the recap. Please don’t be shy about sharing any other thoughts. The baseball program is being very tight lipped with no audio, video, or even box scores. All of which other schools with a fraction of our resources have done this fall.

I wanted to do a play by play yesterday but could not remember my login to use my phone. I know terrible excuse.

I was really surprised at how well Bianco played second. He missed a homer by just a couple feet when he hit the double off the wall scoring a couple runs.

I noticed the stockier players, seemed to have slimmed down and look to be in good shape.

I have no idea why they are not streaming the games or at least letting coaches committee like last night. It doesnt make much sense.

Dugas went yard. Apparently the purple team is going off. Up 12-1.

Hill went 3 innings, gave up 4 hits and a run, touched 97.

A 1B player above 6’ tall? Has Pulmonary forgotten how to measure?

Bianco is going to be on a mission, and PM must've seen something to keep the door open for him. He may have won the DH job, at this point, but the numbers made more sense to play him against the starters and have Hellmers DH with the starters. I really like the competition that appears to be taking place, because that means depth shouldn't be an issue.

Bianco hasn’t won the DH spot. Several competing for that spot. Sanford, Dugas, Drost and Bianco. Like you said depth is key this year. Wouldn’t surprise me to see competition for several positions go into the SEC part of the schedule.

Lester, I would say he runs well but not a flat out burner. I have no idea of his 60 time

This is great to hear. Gio definitely has the speed to be a great CF; but just felt like he lacked some of the instincts and took some bad angles on balls last year when he was playing. If he improves both of those things, then I would say he will be robbing a whole lot of hitters this spring.

Worries me a bit that PM said this was Hill’s best outing of the fall.

He’s still knocking the rust off. He’ll be dominant again by spring

I'm still very annoyed that we aren't getting box scores.

We get a couple write ups with almost no detail of the games. Stats for maybe 5 players each game.

It's ridiculous. If I wanted to watch fricking Fairleigh Dickinson on ESPNs streaming site, I could. But I can't watch LSU. Half the SEC can put out box scores for their fall games, LSU can't? Mississippi State was streaming audio, LSU is doing jack shite.

If programs with a fraction of the resources ours has can figure out how to get their games streamed over the internet, our program can. Which means, at this point, they're intentionally not allowing for it to happen. Which is complete bullshite.

Hard to know for sure, but from the tenor of Wilson Alexander's article from last night is that most of the fall Hill was starting out well, but falling off quickly as he fatigued in his performances and his velocity would drop off and he wouldn't execute pitches.

Last night was the first time he was able to somewhat extend and hold his velocity. Sounds to me that building up his stamina and strength will be what is key for him to be a Friday ace this coming season.

Here is what is known about the planned schedule, from Mainieri's press conference the other day, and other schools releasing schedules:

weekend 1 - Air Force, Army, Notre Dame round robin
Weekends 2-4 (I don't remember the order) - Illinois, UC Riverside, Oral Roberts

May 11th - Home vs Louisiana Tech

If the SEC goes with the normal 30 game schedule and allows for OOC games to be played (essentially, if next season looks normal), we will have all of the same opponents we were scheduled to have last season with the same home/away alignment. I don't know if the order in which we play them would remain the same.

ETA: I would guess that weekend 2 would be Illinois because they're scheduled to play at LaTech weekend 1. They probably have a midweek with someone else in Louisiana as well and are just making a weeklong trip out of it.
