I just watched the whole pc. He said he’s still not sure what the weekend order would look like but that Labas and Marceaux outperformed Hill this fall.

Me - But if Hill pitches to his capabilities he’s a Friday ace.

Also, our non con weekends were going to be the opening tourney already mentioned, uc riverside, oral Roberts, and Illinois. Not terrible. I would have liked seeing that. Good geographical diversity. Uc riverside might be dropping all athletics though.

I hope they figure out the ticket situation soon. I’m a season ticket holder, but out in the cheap seats. I hope I can get my tickets for the upcoming season. My understanding is LSU is trying to figure out what seating capacity will look like before offering people their usual tickets

I stand corrected on Tre Morgan. Mainieri said he is one of the best defensive first baseman he has ever had and a future major leaguer. Morgan is just too good defensively not to play. Not to mention he could bat in the 3 hole.

Very high on Cade Doughty at second and with his bat, but LSU will look different up the middle with Will Safford at third and Zach Arnold at shortstop who bumped Collier Cranford to third.

Based off of the people I have talked with it would be Marceaux, Labas and Hill on the weekend. They have outperformed Hill and you can’t kill your bullpen on Friday night. Morgan is at first because of his defense. Has nothing to do with him not throwing yet. Arnold has been better than Cranford overall at SS mainly because of his hitting. I don’t think this position is settled yet though and the same goes for 3rd base. I honestly would expect multiple lineups early in the spring season.

So you are saying they want the not-as-good defender at the easiest position on the field in the OF?

Do you think Morgan would be an above average or plus outfielder? Serious question

I read your post as that he is at 1B because he was good defensively there

Beloso to LF is his best move to play after college and is the same move Deichmann made. Morgan defensively is really, really good.

He’s at 1st base because he’s way better than average there. Both Beloso and Morgan would be average in the outfield. This way you are stronger all around with Morgan at 1st and Beloso in the OF. Agree?

Dunno, I thought Beloso was pretty damn good 1B

Just weird that he is worse defensively than Morgan yet they feel he can play In the OF

Morgan’s wing span at 1B prob comes into play. I’m sure Beloso is healthier overall to man an OF spot than Morgan is - no need to ruin Morgan’s recovery in the OF. Seems like you need Morgan and Beloso in the middle of that order so you just play it smart for now.

Eh, he was pretty average. Which is fine at first base but he wasn’t a stellar defender.

I don’t see how Beloso makes it in the pros in the outfield. He might be passable in the outfield in college because of his bat. He’s nowhere near the athlete that Deichmann is.

I think Beloso belongs in the DH spot. An argument could be made that we could have put a better defensive player at first with Beloso as DH. The last two years. This year Morgan is just a better player and earned the position. Beloso is being put in the outfield to keep his bat in the lineup. Why not Drost,Bianco, Dugas, Sanford, Hampton in the outfield and put Beloso where he belongs as DH.

I can see Beloso starting in LF but I agree that he’ll utimately end up at DH. There are too many other athletes you can place there.

Eh, was definitely above average fielder at 1B. What type of things are you looking for? Just curious

Mainieri said this about Beloso last year. "When Beloso came year his freshman season he was not very good defensively since that is not taught very much in high school. He has worked very hard and is much better as a sophomore ". What I take from that is he is adequate but not much else.

Was much more comfortable around the bag last season. Has good mannerisms for the position. Fields ground balls well, good thrower, decent at going back for pop ups. Does well on short hops. I liked him there.

That would actually be pretty solid. Hopefully most of it sticks.
