If he makes it to Omaha he will have nearly the same accolades as PM when hired.

I don’t think you’re following here. It isn’t a question about whether he could recruit Louisiana, the recruiting cycle comment was in response to the “5 year window”. It’s extremely disappointing if that’s how far we’re looking ahead with this hire in general, but even more so considering the first class of his guys would arrive until well into that (regardless of which state they’re from).
I get what you are saying. I just think it doesn’t have to take time. Hell we are in the final 16 now with a young group.

UnluckyTiger said it the other day … he’s never seen so much smoke and mirrors coming out of the LSU AD.
What lets me know LSU is play the smoke and mirrors game is the fact that each daily hot name is being leaked to a different insider each time.
You’re not returning to the same well with any credibility to spread fake news twice. That insider/reporter isn’t going to bite after the 1st leak is surmounted by another the next day.

I swear to god, some of y'all think resume is everything. Is not.
A younger coach will not have that kind of resume.
So who will people be happier with...a young coach who does nothing or an old guy that wins a championship?

And Woodward isn’t hiring that. How many examples you need?

I don’t like his beady little eyes either

The plan is, hire Pat Casey for 5-8 years, win a few nattys, and then hire Vitello once he proves himself to be a good baseball coach, and that he can be a mature and classy guy

Ron Polk was actively coaching last year

So let me get this straight with all the title IX stuff, we talk with a guy that had a player with issues (clearly) he was suspended when the university first learned about it in 2017. Ok that’s good. But you allow him back on the team in 2018.

He wouldn’t win a championship here. He wouldn’t build anything here. He would take what he has, not connect with the South or Texas like other SEC schools and the program would be worse than after Smoke left. Is that what you want?

Vitello hasn’t won jack shite. He is the definition of “let’s just hope” regarding National title expectations.
Vitello is coaching his 3rd full season at Tennessee and is probably going to be going to Omaha after beating us this weekend with a really good chance to win it. He also is going to have a great team next year which will be a favorite to win it. He is the prototype of what you would want.

And yeah, there is a little pressure at the CWS......so I i think he has shown he can handle it.
Casey has already quit once so he apparently didn't think he could handle it but we can just keep ignoring that.

Everything you said there is bullshite

Yes he did remove him from the team but the next season he was allowed back to the team. From what a person stated the pitcher removed himself from the team- so I guess Casey didn’t suspend him.

Well, Saban is 70 & just signed deal through ‘27. If he is up to it, Casey could easily go 10+ years. Think Mainieri would stay active if not for the neck & back issues.

Casey got burned out at Oregon with zero pressure ever. And we think he will be motivated at a place like LSU and our standards? frick off with this hire.

Why can’t the administration pull their head out of their collective arse and figure out that the job needs someone on the upside of their career. We don’t need to replace a coasting money vacuum with another coasting money vacuum.

FFS with the Saban comparisons.

Has he told you that personally?

Based on what? He won 3 championships at Oregon State. So you think Vitello will win a natty at LSU but not Casey?
