Why can’t the administration pull their head out of their collective arse and figure out that the job needs someone on the upside of their career. We don’t need to replace a coasting money vacuum with another coasting money vacuum.
Because this is LSU, and we don’t make smart decisions around here

Casey got burned out at Oregon with zero pressure ever.
As Michael Jordan said.....”that’s because you never won anything.”
The big time winners put more internal pressure on themselves then anyone on the outside can.

That makes zero sense in this case. Did Casey have his dad killed too or something? First he’s Saban now he’s Jordan.

Your posts are getting worse.....if that’s possible

He's 62. Mainieri is 63. Hell no.
He turned 62 in March, Maineri will be 64 in August. Saban turns 70 in October, did you hear me 70? How does/did he attract recruits? The answer is results. Are people on this board as naive as they appear? In 2017 he lost to LSU twice in Omaha trying to get to the National Championship game. In 2018 he won it all, then retired. He won 3 national championships at Oregon state. He’s sorta like a Kim Mulkey in baseball. People want a proven head coach, he’s the definition of it.

So let me get this straight with all the title IX stuff, we talk with a guy that had a player with issues (clearly) he was suspended when the university first learned about it in 2017.
That was sooo 2017.
Liberals are down with pedophilia now.
If the Biden’s aren’t canceled by now then neither will he.

Absofrickinglutely.
gonna bookmark this. When it doesn't happen I would be happy to remind you. And you can do the same. Vitello isn't coming anyway. Tennessee is gonna do whatever they can to keep him. They suck in football and basketball. I am not against Vitello but I would rather a proven commodity, not a guy I hope can do it. No guarantees on a guy that hasn't done it yet. And don't tell me then why did lsu hire skip. Back in the mid 80's the sport was very different. Totally different game now.

Another Saban comparison.
The frick is wrong with you people?

If Casey is the choice then it’s a horrible decision! Man what a letdown. How many years does he have left ? Seriously! How are you going to sell that to recruits? Absolutely horrible!

Casey did not suspend the pedo, he voluntarily left the team. In fact Casey was hoping the pedo would come back that very same season and pitch. The following year he rejoined the team. The whole thing is gross and I can't believe LSU would even consider Pat Casey.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Oregon State players were happy to answer any questions about the baseball part of the College World Series. The topic of Luke Heimlich was a non-starter.
Heimlich, the Pac-12 pitcher of the year, announced Thursday he would not accompany the Beavers to Omaha because he didn’t want to be a distraction. Last week it was revealed that when Heimlich was a teenager he pleaded guilty to molesting a 6-year-old girl. He did not pitch in the Beavers’ super regional against Vanderbilt.
Coach Pat Casey said Heimlich made the decision to stay home on his own; if Heimlich had wanted to, he would have been allowed to travel to Omaha with the team. Oregon State, the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, opens the CWS on Saturday against Cal State Fullerton.

quote:Theres a ton of room between the two. I don’t think a coach has to be young, but it makes a hell of a lot more sense to hire someone who is on their way up or at the peak of their career than someone who is very obviously on the downside and has already flamed out once, and was considering retirement 5 years even before that.
..a young coach who does nothing or an old guy that wins a championship?
There needs to be a blend of resume, talent, and trajectory/projection. Finding the right person is what a good AD is supposed to do. If it were as simple as looking in record books to find the most wins or championships anyone could do it.

Urban Meyer is only about 5 years younger than Casey

Is that supposed to be a good thing?

We shall see. I don't agree. Not saying they are scrubs but I don't see it happening. A few years back everyone wanted the UCSB coach because they beat UL in the supers. They haven't done much since then. There will be a hot coach every year. Doesn't mean they will be the king at the top programs.

Two of my least liked coaches in history are Jimbo and Pat Casey. Woodward would look at both of em?
Casey can coach the shite out of game of baseball, but he has a sliminess to him.
