Any good places to stay near there? Plan on making a trip to the LSU- Ole Piss game and I’m trying to find somewhere to stay. Hopefully nothing that will break the bank. Any suggestions would help!

As in near the stadium - walking distance - or near Oxford in general - in towns like Batesville, Sardis, Tupelo, or Pontotoc?

If the prior, walking distance would be places like Turnberry Condos right off campus. That will probably cost you $2,000 or so for the weekend.

If the latter, all hotels will be jacked up in price. Not sure what the price range you are looking for though. Is it you or a group? If the group is large enough Airbnb a full place makes the most sense. Just you, Airbnb a single room is best bet.

In the past, I’ve just stayed in Memphis. It’s only about an hour north.

Doesn’t have to be within walking distance if the stadium. I already know I won’t get those. Wayyyyy too expensive. Beyond ridiculous prices. Looking at Batesville or such. Group of 5-6

Ole miss is the most expensive road trip in the SEC if you stay in Oxford. Batesville is 30 minutes and Memphis is an hour.

30-35 minutes away. This is a damn good piece! For dinner one night in Sardis, MS, check out Tri-Becca Allie and ask for Dutch and Becca. They will take care of y'all. This price is so good I might ask you split in on the cost and go myself!! Haha! I am moving from Oxford this Summer so I don't have my condo available anymore.

No hotels? What’s the issue

It’s a town that doesn’t have enough occupancy for an additional 20-30k fans. The football team stays in Memphis because of this and not being able to fly directly into Oxford.

Most AirBnB’s are charging $900 a night in the city limits.

Knowing that hotel options in Oxford are scarce, we booked ours about six months ago. Batesville is about 30 mins west of Oxford and then Tupelo is about 45 mins east. We’ve also done trips there where we’ve just stayed in Jackson depending on the game time.

Very few hotel rooms, very expensive daily rates, usually at least a two day minimum, and they are sold out before away teams’ fans can book them for UM home football game weekends.

Also, the VRBO market for football weekends is expensive there too, not a huge supply of potential places as Oxford (sometimes known as “Ocford”) is a small city.

Batesville (30 minutes) and Grenada (55 minutes) are the two closest next alternatives, there’s not much to recommend either of them to anyone.

I’d much rather stay in Tupelo (70 minutes) before either of those two.

Still a better deal than the cover to get into the Library on a game weekend

I have stayed in Granada, Mississippi before. It is a convenient place to stay if you are not staying in Oxford. It is not a vacation paradise but there are a couple of good restaurants there.

Sounds like a shitty experience. Yet everyone swears Oxford is so cool

If you’re on the inside (have or know folks with places there), and have been part of that culture a long time, it’s fun.

The Grove experience (while nice) is not as welcoming to strangers as is Tiger Stadium tailgating.

Conversely, you probably won’t get hit by a piss balloon in Vaught-Hemingway stadium either.

So, it’s not bad.

I know lots of folks in both fanbases so either site works for me.

Will be interesting to see if my son gets offered there…but those drives and stays for the OM games seem daunting.

Most of the visiting teams stay and fly in and out of Tupelo. A bus with an escort can make the trip from the Tupelo airport to Oxford in 30-40 minutes dependent upon if that one stop light is red or green

There are many places that offer short term rental up by Sardis Lake between Oxford and Batesville. We own a place (not for rent) that's about 20 mins from the campus and know several people that have rentals in the area.
