Wow, big 180 here. I've heard people be called less of a fan because they didn't graduate from that institution, but to say someone is less of a fan because they graduated from that institution is a crock of shite. I have no doubt that all you posters out there who didn't graduate from LSU are still die hard LSU fans, however you will never have the connection to LSU that someone who spent 4+ years of their life at LSU does.

Doubtful. And they probably only support football and not baseball. Don’t even mention basketball to them.

You can get a degree from either school on line and never set foot on campus......so why are you pulling for your choice of a pro team?? what degree makes you a better fan for them? JUST ENJOY THE GAME PLEASE ! !

I always felt that if you lived/were born and raised in the state of the team you cheered for, you were good to go. It's not like college football is some magical game that only becomes interesting after you graduate. You can't help but develop an interest (or I guess deep hate) in a team when you are surrounded by it.

Plus, my LSU degree was paid for mostly by TOPS, so if you paid/pay taxes in LA, you've helped put people like me through college and can root for whoever the hell you want.

All that said, if you were born and raised in Lafayette or NOLA, went ULL or Tulane (or nowhere at all), and have a Bama decal on your car or a 55 national championships shirt in your closet, you're a fricking loser.

They’re both good schools academically and even tech has had some athletic success, if but proportionately. This should be a fun game, as most tech fans are also LSU fans. And there should be nothing against Tech by LSU fans.

As a graduate of both schools, here’s to a hard fought game by Tech giving LSU all it can handle, but a clean, convincing win by LSU in all phases.

Could be worse we could be in Alabama. Go to Mobile Al pick a Sports Bar and watch all the Bama fans hoot and holler at the TV every-time a call go's against them while playing a D2 school. All the while USA is playing in a stadium right down the road. At least we have more teams in the State to support. Be happy your not stuck with a choice between your sister and your cousin or Alabama and Auburn.

No

That makes no sense.

ETA: I’m not even arguing the opposite either.

LSU is going to prison rape La Tech. I'm normally considered pretty pessimistic concerning LSU football but this will be an arse whipping. There is just too much momentum for LSU right now, there will be no hangover.

I grew up a fan of both, still am. Got my BA from Tech.
Years later got my MEd from LSU-s. My son graduated from LSU and is in Law school there. My Father went to Tech,my uncle was on the 58 Team at LSU.

I always pull for Tech, except when playing LSU. At this point it is more important in the "football world" that LSU wins, but hope Tech does respectable

I'm from North LA. Had the chance to go to either school. Chose LSU. Best decision of my life.

I have nothing against La Tech. Have a lot of friends who went to school there, yet they still cheer for LSU. Many of them will be wearing purple and gold this weekend.
