As you guys know, Louisiana is somewhat unique, although Bama is even worse, in that there's only one big-time college football program that represents the state. Hell, LSU was bigger than the Saints until recently, and may still be. People are fans of Louisiana football and LSU represents that. There are more options now but up until what, the 90's, LSU was really the only game in town with limited TV etc.
I honestly don't see why anyone would care why you're a fan of the same team.

Man i always say this. Sometimes a can’t stand our own fan base. I love the team and school but damn you cucks are horrible. I can certainly see why so many other fan bases hate LSU. Our fans are arse holes.

I know people who went to other schools but still only pull for LSU. Tech isn’t a competitive program so I don’t see what makes anyone pull for them over their actual favorite school just because of a degree.

I don't have a degree and could give a shite less about any school other than LSU because it's the flagship school of the state and it's in my hometown.

I have two degrees from LSU and was a fan long before I went to the Ole War Skule.
I have an advanced degree from another SEC school who shall go nameless and that also makes me an alum of that university. But, I can assure you, you would never know that is you visited my home nor will I ever admit to it if I can help it.

No. Opposing fan bases are suppose to "feud" and rib the other team and fan base. This is a competition between our athletic representatives on a football field. There will be a winner and a loser. It's all in good fun. So... tease away. Pick sides. Root for YOUR team.
