I'm a double grad LSU '90 and '94.
I've missed one home game I can remember in six years.
I bleed purple and gold, and can find myself yelling at the TV during a women's basketball game if it's LSU.
I used to enjoy arguing about the strength of my football team with fans of other teams around the nation. I think our team has what it takes to compete on that level. I don't think our staff puts those players in the best position to win.
I often discuss this with people who coach and have coached football for a living. My opinion does not differ much from those whose opinions I respect and trust.
We could be 6-2 or 5-3 right now, and there are plenty of scenarios which would give me hope. I predicted 8-4, expected 7-5. It's really not the record that disappoints me. There have been systematic problems that indicate to me there is only one solution. Cut the head of the snake.

Didn't read all 7 pages of this post but what about the 38-3 win against #14 GA Tech in the bowl game?
I'd say thats a pretty big win right there.

Its the only team we beat over the 2008 & 2009 seasons that finished the season ranked. To date the only team we've beaten this year that is still ranked is Miss St.

Amen brother!
The Sunshine Pumpers will throw out Miles' overal record to disprove your theory, but your theory is definately sound.
When you throw in the manner in which we've won the other games, you can only conclude that the program has declined.
You can also argue that the national brand has taken a signifigant hit as well.
All of which go back to the HEAD COACH. Replacing the OC won't accomplish a damn thing.
MILES HAS TO GO!!!!

Adopted in Houston at 5 days to parents from New Iberia. Lived in Lake Charles from 6-7, and raised in New Iberia. Baton Rouge 4 yrs., New Orleans 4 yrs. Worked in the Deridder and Leesville area for over 6 years, and have been in the Lafayette area for over 10 years.
I know many of your prototypical Lafayette LSU fans, as well as many of your prototypical Lafayette anti-LSU fans.

There are plenty of good, true LSU fans in Lafayette. Just check I10 E on game day. BR LSU fans should be careful of berating Laf LSU fans, it's really an ignorant stereotype.

Lafayette has the most season ticket holders per capita last time I checked.

God you people are so aggravating and delusional.
I'm sorry if LSU hasn't beaten the past 2 national champs.. and the current #2 BCS team..
Here's the thing.. Neither has anyone else..
25 points is how far we were from being undefeated in 2009
25 points is how far bama was from being 9-4.
It's all about Confidence, Bounces, and a little luck.. When you douche bags feel the need to boo.. Or when the fans leave in the fourth quarter of a 4 point game.. The confidence goes right out the window..
Stop sucking the media's balls and open your eyes.. Maybe LSU would not qualify for the top 5 over the past few years.. But they have played well enough to be in all of those games (minus UGA '08 and FL '08) Which is more than about every other team in the country can say.. So that puts us in about the.. oh I dunno.. Top 8 overall..
If you want to see an undefeated team every year you better move to Boise cause you ain't gonna find that shite in the SEC.. At least then.. you won't have to worry about having the burden of getting pumped up for top ten showdowns.

Please - did you have to remind me of the manure I paid for and sat through in 2008 - took the RV up to BR for GA and AL too. It sucked.

You have now asked this question to three different people in this thread.
Who do you want to answer?
If your son played for LSU during the Archer and Hallman days, maybe I know him. I had two high school teammates that were starters six out of their eight combined years at LSU from '86-'91.

Miles is trying to manage around a lemon of an offense and still grab a BCS bowl bid.
This line reminds me of the old joke about the guy who murdered his parents and then asked the judge for mercy because he was an orphan.
Miles is the Dr Frankenstein that created this lemon of an offense.

read the topic of the post. I just stating how the post is blowing it out of proportion.
By the way. At the time LSU beat Georgia in 2009. It was a big game. By the end of the season it ended up not but still was huge for the time.
Just because you aren't beating a top 10 team every week doesn't mean there weren't big games in there. Florida this year is another example. Big win for us at the time as well.

I see many people arguing over what constitutes a "big" game. I think the definition that I, along with many others, have of big game is a game that has championship implications. Yes, we have beaten some teams that seemed good at the time (Auburn 2008) but we have not won a game that had those direct championship implications. If you look at the games listed by the original poster every game had some kind of championship implications. If LSU cannot beat Bama (no matter how few teams do this) then we will not be playing for any championships.
Every other "big" game that people have listed we should have won. For example, if we don't beat 2008 Auburn that is a bad loss, same with Florida, West Virginia, and NC this season. All of these teams have at least 3 losses already.
One other comment I want to address. One poster brought up repeatedly Oregon's win over USC. I would argue that this is not a big win for Oregon this season. They are the #1 team in the country with an all time good offense and USC is rated in the bottom third in the country in defense. Oregon waxed USC last season and was expected to do the same again. It is unfortunate for LSU, and us as fans, but LSU will have to beat top 10 teams every season if LSU wants to play for championships. That is how we differ from Oregon.

We beat Florida at their place this year. West Virigina, North Carolina, Miss State this year. Auburn and Arkansas were both big games last year
A big game is against a top 10 team in my opinion

the LSU fanbase is apathetic because LSU football is by-in-large not fun to watch. I will admit that sometimes when I wake up on Saturdays before big games, I almost have a sense of dread because I know that I am about to go through 3.5 hours of torture of sloppy play, poor coaching and uninspired football. I love LSU with a passion and it is simply painful to watch.
This sums up how I feel.
