At the time LSU beat Georgia in 2009. It was a big game. By the end of the season it ended up not but still was huge for the time.

That georgia team lost 5 games including 2 to 7-6 tennessee and 7-6 kentucky. Just because they were overrated when we played them doesnt make it a big win. They couldnt even finish in the top 25.

Im not even talking top 10 here. Im talking about the only team we beat in 08 & 09 that finished the season in the top 25 was ga tech. And to date the only team we've beaten still in the top 35 is Miss St. Forget top 10 just beat some top 25 teams.

I know this isn't the point of the thread but I've seen this mistake mentioned WAY too many times:

The defense NEVER gave up 50 pts in the 08 season!

Against GA, JL threw 2 pic-6s to Darryl Gamble and a third INT to set up a short field and easy FG attempt.

Against UF, JL thew a pic 6 to Brandon Spikes to give UF 51 pts. LSU also had 2 additional turnovers in the game.

correction....the Les Miles coached LSU Tigers gave up 50 points for the first time since Curley Hallman was head coach.

So, If LSU would have beat Auburn last week and then Auburn loses 3 in a row after us or if LSU beats Bama this week and Bama were to lose the rest of their games these would not big wins?

Interesting perspective.

So, excitement for more than one game in 2010 when your team is 7-1 and 11th ranked is too much to expect from the LSU fan base???

Talk bout low expectations.

It's a good thing for LSU that their football team has more backbone than some of their fanbase, huh.

People put waaaaaaay too much stock in rankings. Honestly, who gives a flying frick how a bunch of sportswriters rank football teams? Ask anybody who was in the stands for the win over UF if that game was big. I promise you 90k+ didn't pack that stadium and scream their lungs out for three hours to watch a scrimmage. Same goes for the win at UGA, for the win against GT, etc., etc.

Concise, to the point, and by gawd that's poetic.

Good post. I think you're on to something.

It's the perspective of the media, which helps drive the BCS. It might be the wrong one, but hindsight is used frequently, often, and almost exclusively as the rankings are drawn up for the final few games.

It's all about you isn't it? Distance yourself from the wellsprings of your sorrows and plenty will willingly take your place. It's football. You are supposed to get your feelings hurt...(and your body sometimes). That's what it's all about. Nice to see passionate fans.
Think of the hopes we dashed this year.....WV fans still haven't recovered from our last minute win. UNC was teased into thinking they could beat us. Think of the Tennessee fans still counting to 13 on their fingers (they have extra ones on their feet, you know). MSU fans are wondering 'if we could have also beat LSU this year, we might be in the top 10....'
Vandy actually thought they had a chance going into the second half .....haha.....we are heart breakers. Live with it. Enjoy it.

you do realize it's because these games were close, and the reason why they were so heartbreaking for the opposing teams.

We shouldn't be a heartbreaking team, we should be heart decimating machines, and if we had some semblance of an offense, we would be.

Have news for you pal, the whole world works that way. Humans, by very nature, are extremely selfish animals once the pastor and priest walk out the room. Not that I condone that. But, it is what it is.

It IS what it is.
Imagine the nervous eyelash tick UT fans get when LSU is mentioned.
As far as the 'heart decimating' goes, studying game theory will tell you that teasing your opponent into thinking he can win is far more demoralizing than just outright defeating him.
I can roll with that.

Did you actually read the post? Those were not seriously big games, so, yes, douchebag, please continue.

You kidding...right?

NC, WV, Miss. St, Auburn, and Hogs and were not "seriously big games"?

NC and WV were ranked when we played them and part of an OOC schedule many here postseason declared our toughest in over a decade and part of the reason for our strong SOS rating.

Miss St is 7-2 and NR and since when did Auburn and the Hogs become not "seriously big games"?

Some guys here change their mind more than any woman I know.

If that's how you feel, GFY. I could watch LSU with the same passion and intensity year in and year out because they are MY frickING TEAM. Apathy only manifests in those who were never really interested in the first place.

GTFO with that bullshite and holier than thou attitude. Everyone is sick of this shite. Watching a team with so many playmakers lay eggs for three years is not fun. I dont know one single fan that does not have an issue with it, and are somewhat tired and turned off by what our coaches are putting on the field. The thing that is keeping me going this year is awesome defensive/special teams play, but I cringe everytime we drop back for a pass with JJ and/or run the option. With that said and kick some Bama arse.

The only, and I repeat, THE ONLY reason why I continue to watch and support this team at all is because they are LSU and I am an LSU fan.

But I totally agree, watching "my" LSU play so badly on offense is not fun and is downright discouraging.

Even though LSU is 7-1 this season, the product on-field is far less than inspiring. So I will not be bullied into saying or thinking otherwise by people on this rant thread who cannot face the reality of this mess.

Your comments are totally on-target.
