re: Orgeron when asked about players laughing and smiling on sideline in 4th quarter
Maybe they need to be grounded. Let's ban all their smart phones for a week.

come on, some of our plays both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball it's really hard to contain yourself. I laugh at a lot of them. They probably are too. Who can blame them.

I've been an LSU fan for 55 years. Worrying about players laughing on the sideline is stupid. These players work way harder than you do.

You mean leaders taking charge and calling guys out when they do something wrong? Happened last year a good bit, and we were t losing.
Losing isn’t fun. It never is, especially when you’re getting embarrassed.

"pointing fingers" and the leadership you mentioned are two different things.

Yes, we need the leadership you are talking about. But when coaches force it as opposed to develop it (or in some cases try to substitute for it) it never seems to work out.

There's talk about Orgeron being Chizik 2.0. Well, one of the mistakes Chizik made was when faced with the same situation was clamp down too hard on the team with coaches doing bed checks for curfew and such. Granted, it might have been warranted. But it didn't help.

When the coaches try to force it, and players are pointing fingers (vs. leadership emerging) it will almost always cause an us vs. them type rift between the coaches and players. And any leadership (or coaching) your coaches could have provided has at least been diluted, if not erased. At that point, the coaches have lost the team and there's no going back. If you can avoid crossing that Rubicon, there's at least hope. No guarantee that the players will develop leadership, but there's still some hope and something to work with. It's over if it goes that far.

And right now I think a big part of the issue is the players don't have faith in the coaching, therefore they aren't executing within the scheme/plan. If that's true, then a further rift almost guarantees the product on the field will not get better and will likely get worse. The need some success, and success based on the coaches gameplans to build that faith in the system.

The coaches job, in regards to leadership by players, is to encourage and enhance it. You want players holding each other accountable and you lend your weight as a coach to that.

I laughed a few times from my living room. I know the rest of the world was laughing. You have to admit that our performance was pretty funny.

The last thing we need is a team full of Aaron Brooks.
