Making a mistake is doing due diligence and making the wrong decision. Not interviewing potential employees that you're going to be paying $800k plus is gross negligence.

what the frick is pom and Thomas doing letting O come out and say things like this?

why would you ever admit to not fricking interviewing someone?

I’m fairly certain that this is a shot across the bow at those who made him hire Pelini.

It appears O’s entire life is a series of frickups, followed by having to learn from what should have been obvious mistakes, to making dumb mistakes again, to having to learn from those mistakes once more

And where is the SID keeping him from constantly sharing too much information?

I thought that after I made the original post. I could see that since Scotty shite on him for no reason last week.

The problem is it makes Ed look like a Buffoon as well.

It’s an LSU trait, for whatever reason when a mic is present everyone but will wade and Paul (mostly because he is sleepy) shite the bed.

He's not my favorite coach in the world, but that has nothing to do with whether or not his decision to not interview potential assistants was dumb or not.

It’s incomprehensible that he didn’t have a major hand in hiring Pelini or that he was completely forced on him. He was coming off a national championship. Maybe people made suggestions and he didn’t follow through with due diligence, but there’s zero chance he didn’t make the decision.

Same goes with crediting him with the Brady hire. He may have taken the recommendation, but he still made the final call to hire him and deserves the credit for it.

Kinda feel like that’s a mistake that shouldn’t be made in the first place. Super happy with his hires this season and I feel like we’re well on the path to being a contender again, but god damn how are you going to give someone $1,000,000 a year without speaking to them first?

After winning a championship nonetheless.

I think he is referring to Bo primarily.

I believe any sensible person would agree that he made significant mistakes by not interviewing coaches last year. How long do you continue to crucify him for such vs getting behind him for ALL that he has done great for our University and how bright the future is?!?!?!

It’s more likely that the agreement when Orgeron was originally hired was that the AD had to approve coordinator hires. We’ve seen this with Canada. He was forced to keep Aranda.

I think this is a power struggle. Orgeron probably thought the championship should have earned him the right to have control. Woodward “knew better” and “forced/recommended” Pelini.

This was just posted today.

Plus, he doesn't exactly have the best track record of hiring assistants here.

Brady was a fantastic hire as was Greg Williams (obviously this should be McMahon). Other than that though you have a bunch of guys that were either fired, reassigned or had help brought in for them after just one season...

Matt Canada
Mickey Joseph
Steve Ensminger
Jerry Sullivan
Bo Pelini
Scott Linehan

Don't forget that his first year here he decided to not have a special teams coach which also didn't work out.

How embarrassing for SJW scotty as well, he allowed a contract that was insane to be given to a guy that wasn't even interviewed.

I fully believe that it was Scott’s endorsement of Pelini that led to the hiring without an interview and the insane price.

If y’all haven’t noticed, paying coaches out the arse Is Woodward’s thing.
