This is the 1st iteration of "Brennan is starting no matter how good MJ is".

Brennan put up good numbers, but there were times when he would just plant his feet and freeze when he had pressure in his face.
Hopefully, that was just him getting used to the speed of the game early last season. Ideally, a full offseason with the new offensive coordinator and the young guys pushing for the starting spot will bring out the best of version of him.
I was really impressed with both freshman last season.
I think Johnson stood out the most with the Florida game. He stood in there and made some big time throws with guys in his face.
Finley has the tools, but looked disengaged sometimes. Hopefully, he sticks and lets himself develop.
Nuss looks like a boss coming in and a future star.
This is a great situation for LSU. Too many good qbs in the room is an excellent problem to have.

Great to hear, just on a personal level for Myles. Glad he's recovering.
Gonna be a heck of a battle in spring.

Brennan is gonna be a solid backup in case Max gets hurt.

With a new OC and PGC, don’t bet on Myles just because he’s the incumbent. I think he can win the job, but it’s not a given.
Personally, I don’t give a shite who the starting QB is. I just want one of these guys to separate themselves in the spring and for the coaches to give them the job and the leadership responsibilities that go with it.

No way TJ stays...nor should he.
Unless he moves to TE..we need him there

Myles throws a beautiful long ball in case some of you forgot. he hung tough in a game where he was hurt. i expect with new coaching he'll make the offense look really good, including 3rd down and red zone. he gives us a big play offense. not saying the other guys won't be able to, but no one threw the long ball like myles.
we have to be happy with our qb room. i hope the coaches have a real competition which i expect myles to win.

Really hope he's ready to go. He gives us the best chance next year to win it all.

I'm not saying definitively the Johnson beats out Brennan. But I don't think Orgeron has ever really loved Brennan or thought of him as a championship winning QB (despite what he may SAY publicly)
Brennan was recruited by and committed to Miles/Cameron in the summer of 2016. When O was named the permanent HC in November of 2016 he IMMEDIATELY went hard after Tua...despite Brennan already being a long time commit. In fact, Brennan briefly decommitted from LSU. It was only after Tua essentially told O there was no way he was not going to Alabama that O turned back to Brennan.
Then, after the spring of 2018 O goes out and recruits a grad transfer who at that point had LESS significant game experience Brennan to come in and be the starter immediately (save the BS that Burrow had to "compete" for the job. As a grad transfer with only 2 years of eligibility remaining Burrow wasn't looking to go somewhere just to "compete" for the starting job. He could have stayed at OSU and done that. He wanted to go somewhere he could start immediately and O gave him that "promise" even if it wasn't explicitly stated). If O had confidence in Brennan he would have never recruited Burrow. Especially that late in the offseason. Particularly when you consider Burrow was a less heralded, less (significant) game experienced QB than Brennan at the time.
Going into last season Brennan was the EASY choice to be the starting QB because the other two on the roster were true freshmen with zero experience and no real offseason to prepare. That is MUCH different going into this season. Johnson has SEC experience and has only one less start that Brennan has in his career. Moreover, Johnson has the benefit of a great final impression as his play help lead LSU to their biggest win of the season and salvaged some shred of dignity by keeping LSU from having a losing season. O is not going to forget that. Plus, Johnson, with his ability to run relative to the other QB's is the most like Burrow in that regard. Burrow is the inevitable benchmark as to what he wants in a starting QB in O's eyes and Johnson is the only one that may be able to produce some of those big plays Burrow delivered with his legs.
Again, I'm not saying Brennan won't be the starter come game one next season. But I don't think in O's eyes/mind the gap between Brennan and the other QB's (particularly Johnson) is very big at all. O is a pretty simple guy. While maybe not a "fair" evaluation, he sees LSU going 1-2 vs. MSU, Vandy, Mizzou with Brennan as the starter and 2-0 against two better teams who O desperately wanted to beat with Johnson as the starter. This is now very much a QB competition and if Johnson shows O/Peetz this offseason his is capable of running Peetz's offense (including aspects of which where the QB has to use his legs) I would be surprised if Johnson is NOT the starter. That 2-0 finish with 8 total TD's to 1 TO and 675 passing yards at a time when the LSU program looked like it was about to completely collapse is going to remain HUGE in O's mind.

If he's truly a full go then one of either Max or TJ is gone
I’m going with TJ. If he’s even remotely bright (not sure he’s given me anything to believe that up to this point) he’ll realize he has no shot at every playing at LSU again.
I know this board is super high on Max, and probably thinks he can start at other SEC schools, but he still needs so much work, no doubt he’ll put it in but no idea how far away he is from being a starter at a quality school. He could benefit from staying.
No idea about Nuss. But Myles was playing lights out. Really, really fricking stoked for him to come back.

Not so much. We have 1 great QB, 1 potentially good QB who can run, 1 true freshman, and 1 statue who can throw the ball really far at 100 mph
