You are right. That makes the decision to start Skenes worth it.

It's to have him ready for game 1 in the super regional. What's not to understand here?

On top of that, if we can't win out of this regional with the entire pitching staff, we don't deserve Omaha.

How about this. If we can't beat 40 loss Tulane with our #2 starter, we don't deserve Omaha. See how that works?

So now the board thinks it was the best decision to waste your best starter for a game you win 17-2. When you have to play LSU next…….

I don't understand your point.

Once he threw three innings he likely isn't throwing again tomorrow.

Come on Rummy

The coach should have know the team he was playing against tonight was overmatched and saved his best starter for LSU

I mean 17-2????

118 pitches

Once you start the guy, you let him go as deep as possible to save the arms in the pen. No one is upset that Skenes pitched a CG. It’s pretty awesome to be honest. If anyone tells you that they thought Skenes would go 9 today, they are lying their arse off.

They have to reserve their pitchers because their staff is depleted

Bruh...If that coach can predict scores, then he's wasting his time sitting in the dugout as opposed to sitting in Vegas...

They needed to get a win. They got it.

Now, the rest of the staff has to nut-up and do their job. We're in a little different position as we still have a couple of good starters to throw out there, while they do not.

They aren’t 19-21. They had lost 40 of 59 games coming in. 67% was a decent rough estimate.

Not really, Tulane is super aggressive in early counts. It's not going out on a limb to predict a guy like Skenes to go very deep in this game, even if they are swinging and missing a lot.

Not really

He had not gone past 7 2/3 this year and never had a 9-inning CG in his career, so going 9 was prolly not initially on Jay's mind today.

Not even the Bama coach could have screwed up
that lead.

Point is that score of this game versus our game clearly shows if someone should have been holding out a starter….. it was them.

To be fair Shores and Edwards pitched the lion’s share of innings in that game but yea you do have a point.

This stuff is cracking me up. Ragging on a guy whose math was clearly way off, only to be way off in your own math.

All I'm saying is they knew Tulane was not going to be patient. I expected Skenes to pitch into the 8th, at the least. After the first 2 innings, I was definitely thinking he could go all 9.
