Last year, among many, Shaahdiq Charles grew into his role and blossomed.

After a hit or miss 2018 campaign, he surged.

So far, Micah may be on a similar trek.

I realize that family and friends will talk him up. That's what they do.

Beyond that, who can offer their assessment as to whether Micah can blow up into his potential as a LB this season. Both in run, and particularly in pass coverage assignment and instincts.

Thanks in advance.

Not a good comparison
Charles started as a true fr due to depth and held his own in the SEC

Baskerville ended up starting a game at Fla his true fr year and really struggled, he was replacing an injured lb for that game.
A better comparison might be someone like Duke Riley or Deion Jones who were both late developers or had people in front of them on the depth chart but both ended up playing well enough their sr year to get drafted.

Ok. The comparison was not meant to be perfect. Just wanting reasons to believe Micah is on track to prosper after an ok start, regardless of other explicit comparison points

I always thought he was a little small but he is listed at 6’1” and 230. That is adequate

Kid has the speed and lateral movement to play like PQ. He didn’t tackle well the last two years. He was in position many times, made contact and just didn’t finish. If he improves there , he will be a good one.

Saahdiq**** sheesh. It’s like seeing our fan base call:

-Bregman- “Bergman”
-Terrace Marshall- “Terrance”
-Burrow- “Burrows”

Baskerville was a beast on special teams in the Vandy game last season.

He could definitely be the next in a long line of linebackers for us that came in undersized, played mainly special teams for the first few years, got bigger, then all the sudden were great players.

Charles started as a freshman.
He is more on Deion Jones trajectory

I think our 3 starting LBs will be an excellent unit. Big expectations for Cox and Clarke. Baskerville has a ton of potential with his speed and could make the unit the best in the SEC.

It's the depth that has me concerned. 2 of those guys get hurt of have to miss a game or two with covid (let alone a season ending injury) *knocks on wood* and we could be in trouble.

Are our Stack Linebackers fairly interchangeable now?
Or are they still more Will/Sam based?
Thats what Bo is calling his outside backers, right?

Curious as to what the depth chart looks like below Cox, Clark, and Baskerville

Maybe he’ll be good. I watched him against Florida a couple years ago and he may of missed every tackle he attempted. He was absolutely atrocious. Now, he can def improve and may have done so. Till i see it i can’t give that dude the benefit of the doubt. Cause he was just that bad against Florida

Think of it this way. Patrick Queen started 4 games in 2018. One of those starts was for a suspended Devin White (first half vs Alabama). The other three were at outside linebacker over the last four games. In 2019 was his first year as a full time starter and was a first round draft choice.
