Because Arnold made one error?
Who will play at shortstop since our shortstop made 2 errors? Who will play at first since our first baseman dropped a ball in a run down?
Arnold consistently makes errors. Jordan Thompson does also, but we have no choice over there. Morgan does not make a lot of errors, and his play at first is excellent. Also, Morgan is a great hitter, Arnold is not.

Drost got a hit, which, sadly, is about the most you can expect from our DH this year when it’s not Arnold.
I would give Drost another shot. It’s tough to get in a rhythm when you play once a month.

All year he’s been shaky at 2B, that’s the only reason he hasn’t been the guy all season. His defense is not great.
Don’t let Paul’s bad judgement cloud yours. Arnold hasn’t been great, but he’s serviceable at second base.
LSU doesn’t have any other options. We just don’t have any good fielding/good hitting middle infielders.
Put the best bats we have in the lineup, because we can’t win tonight without scoring a few runs.

Drost looked like he was ready to go his first AB

Also I think Labas and Coleman pitched better knowing our offense had the lead and was getting on base nearly every inning

as well as to the infield just as I said.

I don't think so -- its rare but I remember Brad Wilkerson from Fla who pitched great and was also an All American outfielder. Louisville had a stud a couple years ago that pitched and was their leading hitter.

I hate to say this because you don’t mess with a good thing. But I wished crews wasn’t always following milazzo. Having Arnold behind him is better than most but I have a feeling he’s gonna get walked a lot. Having Morgan behind him would be better.
But we are splitting hairs here. You go with what is working.

Is this a post from before Saturday?

To the 2B
As much as he's struggled and as much as he's been out of the lineup, he still has a decent amount of RBI, precisely for the reason that he tends to do the small ball situations well. It's just frustrating when he has base runners everywhere, a 2-0, or 3-0 count, and turns a fastball right down the middle into a lazy sacrifice fly. But that IS better than striking out, as someone else said.
With Gio's injury forcing some shuffling, I honestly think Beloso is the right call at DH. He draws some walks, too. But after that 9th inning error by Arnold, and knowing how Mainieri tends to react to Arnold errors, he'll likely end up back at DH with Safford being reinserted at 2nd. Which makes no sense given his offensive struggles, but it feels pretty predictable.

Drost should have been in the lineup all year. His timing is shite because he hasn't had enough at bats.

Beloso at DH instead of Drost. Beloso will at least make contact in a sac fly situation etc.
That’s no certainty. But I agree if I’m choosing from one of the I’d go Beloso. Drost whiffed on too many fastballs last night. That is where he needed to shine.

He went down swinging at strikes both times. You can’t hit it if you don’t swing at it. But Beloso is sooooo overdue.

I would make the swap as well. Drost has looked bad at the plate most of the year(a lot of strikeouts that are not even close). The one thing Drost will give you this year is power, if he runs into one it might go out of the ball park. But like others have said Beloso most likely will not get a hit but he will at least put the ball in play.
frick Beloso is so overdue, I truly believer he is a better hitter than what he has done this year.

Drost reminds me of Jake (swing at anything) Slaughter with the same deer in headlights look.

Arnold has missed several ground balls during his chances at 2nd base all season that a high school girl could have fielded cleanly.

Good call. Beloso looks like he’s got it figured out.

Good call. You should apply for HC
