1997 Auburn
Cecil Collins runs for over 200.
3rd & 2 and we attempt a pass instead of running the guy that was unstoppable.
punted instead of possibly scoring that drive to make it at least a 7 point game.
Wade Richey attempted a FG from over 60 on the last play that was blocked.

2006 Auburn
2006 Florida
2012 - Bama - the 1/9 game
2012 Bama in Tiger Stadium (Related, TM7 being kicked off the team right before the 2012 season. We beat Bama and win a NC if he's there and focused. I truly believe that).
So, that's 3 national titles we left on the field and were so close. Would have made 6 national titles since 2001 if we could have played just a little better - or if Oklahoma State hadn't fallen apart against Iowa State in 2011. And, who knows what would have happened after that?
But, it also could have meant that the glory that was 2019 didn't happen, so at the end of the day, I accept the lows and disappointments for the glory of that one season that will most likely never be matched. It was true football nirvana.

Besides 1/9/12,
I’d say Clemson 2012.
We got snubbed that year from a better bowl and played like they didn’t care. imo it’s the game that propelled them to the next level.

That year Alabama beat us with TJ yeldon screen sucked

Jamie Howard’s int game was the worst day of my life as an LSU fan. Run the ball and we win. Thanks Lynn amaDee and Jamie. I’m so glad his son transferred. Total straight bitches.

Bama ‘12. McCarron to Yeldon. Heartbreaker.

The Yeldon screen game was back breaking too.

We were well on our way to breaking the 29 year drought of losing to bama at home and then the wheels fell off. Abram booty had what appeared to be td catch but the bama defender took it from him
Not only that, but both 4th qtr Bama TDs were off tipped passes by the LSU DB. That was (and still is) the luckiest loss I've seen LSU suffer.
My vote would go:
2011 BCS NCG to Bama
2012 Bama
1988 @ Ohio State (Blew a 13 point lead in last 2 minutes.)
GEAUX TIGERS!

I was there that day and it was crushing. But, it also meant there was no way we would keep Curley Hallman as coach. So there was a silver lining.
But, yeah, all Howard had to do was take a sack on that last one and we win.

What I remember most about that Yeldon screen TD was the Honey Badger had been suspended for dope & did not play. Bad on the name but a freshman DB was in his place & totally misplayed the play. But because of my age, I gotta go with the 1979 USC game. That USC team had 7 future NFL HOF'ers on it & was blowing out every body they played. Ref threw a flag on a ....questionable play to say the least, a 15 yard BS face mask call, late, LSU punted & USC drove the field to win the game No flag, LSU drives & runs out the clock. NO tv, people were looking for tickets all along the Causeway. Post game, USC's All American tackle said" playing here makes playing in South Bend like romper room".

Why was that game close enough for a bull shite call to determine the outcome? LSU was a MUCH better team than Auburn that year, and had all the tools available on that team to blow them out. 3 points scored was simply ridiculous

LSU/Bama 1998. Winning 16-7 with 3:16 left and lose 22-16. I believe that was the Davis tipped pass. Had to wait another 2 years before beating Bama in TS since 1969.

Other than the recent ones I can’t forget 69 at home vs Ole Miss and 70 in South Bend. The last one came down to a bad PI call if my memory is correct.

2012 Alabama. The regular season one. I don't think the abomination of the Superdome counts as heartbreaking per se.

You are correct about the 1970 loss in South Bend. I don't know if the PI was called on Casanova or Craig Burns, but it was BS. Anyway, we got it back in 1971 as we rolled them, 28-8.

Dinardo lost his mind in 1998. Just disgraceful

The 69 loss to Ole Miss was the only loss that year. Had LSU won we were likely headed to play #1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl.
Instead, ND decided that it would break from its tradition of not playing in bowl games. The TV bosses & the Cotton Bowl opted for ND and LSU decided not to accept any bowl invites that year. The 70 game at ND was our chance to show them that we had a good program. The 71 game was indeed sweet revenge.

2012 Bama in BR. All LSU needed was one first down deep in Bama territory and the game was over. Mettenbeger, Landry and OBJ had it going in the second half.
Miles decides to run it four downs in a row.
Never been so livid about a game in my life.
