I'll be the first to admit I use the two interchangeably. It really boils down to what rolls off the tongue better in a particular context.

So then, do you consistently use them interchangeably? If you read through your history, will you find, "They beat Georgia," and "we lost to Florida?"

Got my PhD at lsu, anything affiliate with LSU I feel some ownership of... when I say we or us when talking about the football team it is because that is an arm of the university.

Idk why people get like that when fans use "we" and "us" when referring to "our" teams, lol. It's really pretty gay for people to get upset about it like they do. I call other teams "them" and "they", hell, i dont see what the problem is. Whatever, it just isn't an issue really. It shows how miserable some people are is all.

3 generations of my family graduated from LSU, starting in the 1950's.

I grew up hearing Tiger Stadium in my back yard.

I'm saying "we". Frick the haters.

Why do people get so salty about this?

My problem is it’s usually the trashiest portion of the fanbase that has no ties to the school that uses it.

I do it all the time. There's nothing wrong with it.

But there is a line. This week for example. LSU plays MSU, but a lot of the fans focus is on the Alabama game. Some people act like there's a problem with us looking to the Alabama game as if by overlooking MSU will cause us to lose.

As a PLAYER and COACH, yes. Do not overlook MSU. Do not think about the Alabama game this week. Focus on who you play Saturday. As a FAN and SPECTATOR, it doesn't matter what we focus on. It will have ZERO impact on the game.

So people going into threads saying "We have a game this week! Why are you looking to Alabama! Don't overlook MSU!" Stop lol. We have no impact on the games. It doesn't matter what we focus on. Chill out.

I think it's common for fans to use this terminology, and I have no issue with it. I do find it funny when us as fans talk about having to focus on the upcoming game and not look ahead though.

Pretty sure they and every other team feel the same about you.

Anyone who complains about fans using "we" to describe the team they root for is really too much of an a-hole to worry about their opinion. Fans have a lifelong connection to their team. Use "we" and don't think twice about it.

IMHO, if I can get in a stadium with 100k of my closest friends and affect the outcome of a game by intimidating an opponent, juicing up my team OR make the opposing team's offense jump offsides to help kill a drive then I get to say "We".

It sure helps with the pronouns.

If I'm going to use "they/them" for the other team, it just makes it easier to use, "we/us" to refer to LSU. Otherwise you end up using "them" for both teams, and it gets confusing.

I personally try not to do it ( oocasionally I do just out of habit) but you have to be a weapons grade douche to complain about something like this.

Truth. Vegas usually awards ~3 points to the home team.

I consider myself partly responsible for a portion of that.

So every home game, i score about 0.00003 points
