I don't get this attitude. It's like saying "I know we weren't the best team...but we deserved the trophy...so I wish we would have avoided the best team...so we could have a trophy saying we were the best team"

I believe LSU 2011 = Bama 2011, but to beat an evenly matched opponent twice is damn near impossible as a previous poster said.

It's obvious to anyone who understands preparation for a football game. You prepare to beat a team. You game plan based on the opponents style and tendencies. If you've played and beaten a team once, what do you do different in the next game? If you've lost to that team, you change your style and tendencies for the next go 'round.

Bama had a built in advantage to prepare their young QB and game plan better. Les first had to prepare for UGA, and then consider changing a winning game plan or sticking with the same plan that worked the first time against an evenly matched opponent. Les chose to keep the previous plan. His biggest failure was lacking adjustments in the 2nd half.

LSU 2011 was as good as Bama 2011, but the BCS game was a trap from the minute Bama was given the mulligan.

If you don't think LSU was as good athletically, look at the starters from 2011 and see where they go in the draft. If you don't think Les is a sufficient coach to beat Saban, what happened November of 2011? LSU was screwed.

I agree with getting screwed in having to play Bama again. Past that, he still did coach that game on 1/9/12. For that, he didn't do "all he could", as you put it

We had to go win the SEC title game for beating them, they got rewarded for losing the game of the century. That's getting jobbed.

No, we "got" to play the SECCG. It's a good thing. 99% of Bama fans would have traded places without knowing the 1/9 results.

And really, we still weeks to prepare.

If you look at almost all bowl rematches. the team that wins 1st has about a 10% chance of winning the rematch.

True, ask Notre Dame about a certain Independence Bowl in which they got boned!

Cracking hit the nail on the head. People don't realize how dominant those two teams were. I dare say they were the two best teams in each programs history. Never have you seen two heavy weight teams that would have been in the discussion for best of all time play not once but twice in the same season. Lets look at it this way, imagine in 1994 that penn state and Nebraska would have not played once, but twice ( yeah I know the 95 Nebraska team was better but stick with me ) does anyone think one sweeps the other? I don't. Sometimes things just line up bad for you and I think that's what happened last year. Put it to you this way, those two teams from last year would have crushed not only Alabama this year, but every national champ in the bcs era except for Miami 2001 and maybe USC 2004. I truly believe that.

It is really so simple LSU obviously earned their way to last years NC game. AND Oklahoma State did more than bama did and deserved to go even if bama was better. How many times do I have to clarify this. It does not matter who is better that is not relevant. It only matters who wins. OKST did more than Alabama and should have been there because they had the same record but a harder schedule.

OK ST. or Stanford are the teams that got screwed the worst.

The "system" was obviously correct. Did you not watch the game? If the "system" screwed us at all, it was by putting US in the game so we'd get corn-holed on national television.

So, by your logic, 'Bama gets to play LSU until they win and are declared champion. I see. That's reasonable.

This "posi-tiger" view is beyond confounding.
The game was not close. How can anyone say that the better team lost?

If in fact, the better team won (which obviously it did by virtue of the arse-whipping it dished out), then how can you say that the better team shouldn't have even been in the game that, BTW, is supposed to pit the 2 best teams against each other?

This line of thinking is biased beyond belief.

Bama forcefully pleasured themselves at our expense on 1/9. You're acting like the game was remotely close. It was a beat down. How can you even argue we were better than them last year after that?

Absolutely. Then he went to the 50 yard line, dropped his pants, bent over, and turned back winking at Saban, then Saban complied. That's why our offense refused to approach the 50 yard line.

We caught a good break in 2007 with Pitt beating UWV; we caught a bad break last year with ISU beating OSU.

We had nothing left to prove going into the title game. Already beaten the #2 team in the country, won the SEC Championship, had the best record in college football, and played the toughest schedule in the country. We had everything to lose

No, LSU had EVERYTHING to win on 1/9 - namely a national championship - and they couldn't do it.

They give you the trophy if you win the championship game, not for looking the prettiest before the game.

The rules are the rules and I don't remember LSU fans complaining when those rules put a two-loss LSU team in the championship game after the 2007 season.
