Wade cheated, got caught, then refused to cooperate with the LSU admin, then he agreed to an updated contract that allowed him to get fired for cause if lsu received level 1 or level 2 violations.
Generally, that is accurate. But the decision to fire him was still LSU's, not Wade's. Was it unreasonable at the time to do so? No. There was validity to do so because the IARP was still ongoing and there was uncertainty as to the outcome.
The unfortunately reality is had the DOJ/FBI not been investigating college basketball recruiting FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, none of this ever comes to light. Thus, there was no reason whatsoever for any college basketball coach to ever suspect one of probably hundreds of conversations they had with a recruiting middle man would be recorded by the FBI. To say otherwise is just ridiculous. Some will say he was "sloppy". I will say he was incredibly unlucky. Even moreso given the fact just a few years later NIL essentially made "pay for play" legal. Thus completely eliminating the need for such alleged conversations. Wade wasn't the target of an FBI investigation. Neither he, nor any of the coaches on his staff ever faced criminal charges. Hell, the infamous wiretap recording was never even introduced into evidence at any of the criminal trials. It was quite literally a collateral recording that was leaked by defense attorneys to the media as part of a defense strategy.
Nevertheless, the recordings came to light and LSU was left with a choice. Continue to employ Wade and accept the eventual ruling issued in the IARP case. Or, disassociate with Wade in hopes that doing so would result in lesser sanctions for the program or the need to fire him anyway. This choice, of course, had to be made under a shroud of uncertainty because no one new what the ruling would be.
They chose to fire Wade. Almost assuredly it was a preemptive act to try to mitigate an adverse impact to the program. However, sadly, that decision seems to have not had much effect because firing Wade brought about the same impact anyway...LSU sinking to the bottom of the SEC. But while Wade's action gave LSU the basis to fire him, his actions are NOT was has caused this program to bottom out. This is (almost) fully McMahon's team/program. That is what the transfers rules facilitate. The rosters can be almost completely turned over in a year or two. Thus, he fully owns any success he may have. However, he also fully owns any failures he has as well.

Yes LSU football is a better job but that doesn’t mean you hire a tomato can as the basketball coach. Again the process is the problem. A non vetted suggestion hire is never the right way to go but there’s no priority when it comes to LSU basketball which is the problem and my point.

Yer not jes' woofin'. Even if the team had talent on par with the other SEC teams, which it doesn't, you'd still encounter long stretches of pointless play with boocoos of turnovers and nothing but iron, and uncontested rebounds. The man is moribund and incapable of inspiring a team.

Chris Beard: 9-0 and trending up
Yea but Ole Miss is in for more trouble in the long run. How long will their current run of successful basketball last?
LSU was wise to pass on Beard. You're talkin' bout a violent man with one real character disorder. Just the sort we don't want here with our running NCAA woes.

I’m just so disheartened right now. All I ever wanted with LSU Basketball was to make the tournament regularly, and we had that, and now, it’s gone. It’s not a love of Will Wade for me, but more of what he represented. It just hard to have what you always wanted, and then boom, back to misery.

If you’re miserable because of lsu basketball, you have more problems than lsu basketball. You should seek help.
But regardless, when we’re back to our winning ways, y’all will all be back, sitting fat and happy….

Wade deserves zero blame for CoachMc 1+ seasons into his LSU tenure with the current landscape of MBB.
There are many separate and distinct arguments that get presented and they end up getting lumped together.
One is the disinformation of what actually transpired with Wade. The same incorrect information gets regurgitated over and over without any attempt to know the truth. That's lazy, unintelligent and bothersome. But it's also just a side-point and has no bearing on LSU MBB right now.
The second is Wade is to blame for the current state of the program which is complete and utter nonsense. The people that spout this just show their ignorance like a badge of honor.

He said he was disheartened. Many of us are.
We wanted exactly what he said, regularly making the NCAAT.
That's the consistency we've wanted for years.

He literally said “back to misery”.

I took it in context that he's not miserable, but the state of the program is back to misery.
If I'm wrong on his intent, my apologies.

No but Beard was facing Domestic Assault Charges until his Beaten Down Wife realized that she would not be receiving 4 mill a year if she pressed on. So his lawyers convinced her to take a couple of combos and a choke out every once in awhile and live like a Queen. A somewhat beaten wrench but a Rich wrench.

So, sounds like you, me, and Beard's wife are all in agreement to hire him.
