Ole Miss LG downfield on Chambliss flip pass

SIAP. Scone mentioned it so I found an end zone clip. The dude is so far downfield it looks like Bennefield covers him briefly.

I know it doesn't matter at this point, but both refs are looking right at 51 and don't throw the flag.

Snapped at the 35, he is at the 40 yd line 
ETA: 11 is downfield blocking too. Clearly a designed run and Chambliss just flipped it when the defense busted the play.
Weeks was on 7 and came up because he likely saw OL downfield. If he just stands still it’s a pick or TC is sacked, Benefield and Green had him penned in anyway.
Very lucky those weren’t called.

No use crying over spilled milk. That was just one of a few things they got away with.
Time to move on to Texas 8&4 and focus on keeping Reed in check for the duration of the game.

I'm pretty sure we had a guy downfield on one of Leavitt's scrambles too.

Called it as soon as he threw it. Usually happens when the QB starts to scramble around the field like that. Oh well

Worst part is Benefield gave up his position because the left tackle was 5 yards down the field. He had the zone covered and stepped up when 51 moved up to block.

It's actually immediate so my guess is the initial play design is a pass behind the LOS making the guard downfield legal. As soon as he throws downfield a flag should have come with it.

I'm pretty sure the play he was talking about was the one where Leavitt ran backwards and all the way across the field before throwing it to Watkins. Bordelon was downfield and they even pointed it out on the broadcast

The missed call that really pisses me off from that game is the missed holding of Spears that Ole Miss got away with. Not because it lead to Ole Miss taking a 17-0 lead, which it did. But because It cost Dashawn Spears his season.

Flag was dropped on the field by referee but Ole Miss had a judge on standby with a ready TRO to counter.

Isn’t most of the RPO stuff technically illegal?
I feel like saban had this complaint when it all came out but people in charge (whoever that is) basically didn’t do anything bc it’s faster and scores a lot of points bringing in better ratings.

Their QB is 24 years old totally ineligible i think lineman downfield is the least if our gripes
