Y A and Bert. Tittle's performances were even more amazing when you consider he played defense in every game and was a running back in addition to setting every passing record at LSU until Bert came along to break them. My mom went to college with both Y A and Dub Jones and knew them socially ( though not intimately, which would be the inevitable suspicion today.)

Bert Jones was my first Tiger Hero. Nobody threw the ball like him back then.

Think about this…Steve Spurrier BEGGED to come to LSU in ‘87. Instead, Joe Dean promoted Mike Archer from DC to HC. Can you imagine Spurrier coaching Tommy Hodson (sophomore at the time), with Wendell Davis and Rogie Magee as the 2 main receivers?? shite, Archer went 10-1-1 his first season what would Spurrier have done with that talent???

Mett and Etling

I know Jordan Jefferson got a lot of hate for his QB play, he still appreciated the program enough to speak highly of LSU and ensure his two brothers played here.

So the qb that set and broke LSU records and national records isn’t in anybodies top 3. I guess it was because he couldn’t run or he loved Pawl

Bert Jones, then Tommy Hodson... both made some really spectacular plays during their run at LSU.
