We haven't sent anyone to Alaska in several years. I think Trey Dawson and Brody Wofford were the last LSU players in the Alaska league. And by the time the fall after that summer rolled around, they weren't LSU players anymore.

Henri Faucheaux had played up there a few years back. Jesse Stalling was up the following season. Both played with the Anchorage Glacier Pilots. UL usually has 3-4 kids that play for the Anchorage Bucs.

All LSU players in summer league in fla are all hitting over 300 including beloso, Arnold, doughty, and gio
Gio with one home run
Not sure how good the pitching is
Cranford hitting only 250 with 12 at bats another player is getting most work at ss not sure If he got hurt or beat out

Hughes hitting 389 in same league

Dugas is only hitting .182, but he's also only batted in 4 games. He got his first hits in game 2 of a double header yesterday. His first hit was a 3 run HR. Despite the .182 average, he's got an OPS over .800.

Arnold dropped below .300 after going 0-3 this morning. But he looks to be playing a pretty good shortstop.

ETA: Most of the pitching is D2 and NAIA with a few JUCO and D1 guys sprinkled in. A lot of teams just aren't sending out pitchers this year. And this league is normally a JUCO/D2 league with just handful of D1 guys in a normal year. It's not a terrible league, but normally a step below the Northwoods probably.

LSU Baseball announced today that Matthew Beck will wear number 8 this coming season. Fitting, since that's how many years he's been on the team.

Kinda weird to see on a pitcher;-)
I can see it though since there are no dominate position guys returning.

I was pulling for Beloso mainly because I didn’t think pitchers were in the running but Beck is an excellent choice if you’re gonna choose a pitcher

This would be a major get for LSU.

I can't tell if we've made contact with him (basically, Nolan Cain isn't following him on Twitter yet).

I'd imagine we would have a shot at him if we wanted to pursue him (if we were willing to make the scholarship money available).

My main wonder is if he entered the portal with a destination in mind already.

And who would we displace that would be a part of our longer term plans for a one year rental?

He's from Tucson so he might favor a WC school

I figure its a long shot for those reasons, we’d have to pull from someone else, and Mainieri usually shy’s away from that

I wouldn't be surprised if Arizona State makes a huge push for him. They like big boys who can swing a heavy bat. Another school over there to look at, though a little further away, Fresno State. Of course that depends on the status of their baseball team. Didn't they already cancel all fall sports?

One of the grad transfer catchers Arkansas was bringing in signed pro instead. The kid from San Francisco. The one from Eastern Kentucky is still scheduled to go there and sit behind Opitz.

Their talent distribution has gone haywire since Vitello left. Their well is drying up and they are getting short term fix after short term fix.

And the Cardinals just took their top two recruits from them. And their top 2021 commit, from the same summer program that produced the two Cardinals picks (and Jaden Hill), is one of the top prospects for the 2021 draft (along with an LSU commit and a Tennessee commit).

Yeah ive been paying attention to them since vitello left, seems like they are ripe to fall. He seems to have been the magic ingredient keeping them near elite. Potential next rockstar coach
