Jay loves him and I would think would take JT back. I agree it’s time for him to move on, but how low does he get drafted?

Gotta feel like Jay Johnson got the magic, everything he’s touched been turning gold.

What teams in round 10 should we be worried about?

With better guys available next year I can't imagine him having a spot to come back. Right?

You have someone in mind? Because we know what Thompson brings to the table. All of your “better” guys are true freshmen or Guidry who didn’t play a position this year.

Thompson 100% has a spot

It's worded poorly. While it is true it is uncapped, there is also no proposed slot number at all.

In general, anyone from these rounds has to accept $150k or less, and sometimes much less.

The importance of the 150k number is that anything over that will have to be paid from the teams' assigned total pool, which is probably looking mighty shallow by that point.

It's really difficult to say as you have no idea what most teams have allocated or worked out behind the scenes with their picks.

I heard most of the year he was a top 5 round pick and top 10 rounds at worst. I guess we will see soon enough.

About where he should based on his performance this year. Seriously, who is surprised by this?

I never believed Thompson would get drafted in the top ten rounds. Still hoping to be wrong.

The idea of a Freshman starting doesn't concern me. We've had some good Freshmen start at SS. It would be nice to have depth at SS if one doesn't workout. Seems like they are adding options via the portal as well.

I would absolutely take Guidry over Thompson.

I never saw it. I hope the best for him though. He started out hot on both sides of the ball, but the old fielding demons came out in the back half of the season, and his hitting regressed as well.

I'm starting to wonder if it's not in his best interest to come back for one more year. I know he would lose any leverage he has, but at this point he doesn't have much if any.

I thought he would be drafted by now based on his potential. He has a rocket arm. His defense improved. He struggled with his bat towards the end of the year, but isn’t a bad overall hitter.

Have to believe Cameron Johnson's # is at least $3-4M, and it would have to be very difficult for a team to scratch together that much coin at this point.

If Thompson were to come back, which I don’t see happening, he’s not moving off of SS.

I could 100% see a DJ & Nola-like situation here. Idk why so many folks make it sound like such a wild idea

Or Bregman. Dude was a 3B turned into a SS and then back to 3B

Because he would have to legitimately not get drafted to not go. If he came back he would probably be forced to sign for like $10k next year.

If JT turns it up and has a great season defensively and offensively and gets drafted in the first 2-3 rounds he would only sign for 10K as a senior?

What is giving you confidence a year 2 guidry would be better than Thompson?

He couldn’t beat him out this year, what makes you think he will be able to next year?

Or maybe he finds something with his bat, improves his defense a little more and still has a rocket for an arm? Josh Rivera went undrafted last year and this year went in the Third Round as a college senior, and I doubt he is signing for $10k. Jordan could do something similar.
