That’s fair. I have no idea how to define average in the mlb. Can you give me an example of an average center fielder?

I feel like that comes across as bitchy but I’m honestly just curious. I really don’t know.

Said another way:
Average means you belong there and will be there for a long time, usually.

I don’t have a name necessarily, I guess defensively better than Dylan Carlson.

From a WAR standpoint (more than just defense mind you) average is 2.0 WAR. Replacement level is 0.

Average at least means every day starter that doesn’t hurt you.

I think they wanted Guidry close to home and around the weight room. Also, he hadn’t picked up a bat in 5 months

Makes sense. I'll probably go watch him Wednesday night in youngsville.

WAR
terrible stat. First and foremost there is no consistent way to calculate it. Secondly, it doesn’t factor in things like the team’s home park.

No matter what way it’s calculated, it’s always park adjusted.

it doesn’t factor in the dimensions. Well known issue.
wRC+ is a better stat for factoring in run production created by the player and stadium they play in.

Lots of HS kids who had planned to get drafted are gonna go to college. The college players who are eligible now only had 5 rounds in 2020. College baseball is gonna be stacked yet again.

Espn is putting up graphics that doesn’t even match his top prospects available.

I don't keep up with the MLB enough to know how common such a thing would be, but I absolutely think an oddball MLB game here or there would pack the box to the max. Especially if they could get some LSU tie in to the players.

Is Thomas White going to end up at Vandy? Still not drafted and was #5 overall player in PG rankings. If that happens I swear Vandy pulls off the craziest sh*t with pitchers and the draft.

Well yeah. But it’s a gamble. It work out great for Crews. There’s a chance it could go the other way. If you’re a mid to late 1st rounder, what’s the odds that you’ll improve your stock? That would be a difficult decision for a teenager.
