I have to question the decision by Jobert but I admire it just the same. I hope he has an awesome year.

The obvious solution is for the CBA to dictate that you can’t go below slot value.

Just FYI, players not on the 40 man roster or players not having Major league experience are not covered by the MLB CBA.

The Player's Union will protect their own, not the interlopers (ie: draftees and minor league free agents).

Let me repost this since you probably missed it on the last page.

The players in the draft have all the power the first several times in baseball. This is unique to baseball as you can go to college, return to college multiple times over giving you leverage to make a deal in the draft. Once you declare in NFL or NBA and stay in the draft, that's it, cant come back to college. you're putting all your marbles in 1 basket. You also cant get drafted until at least 1 year after high school for basketball, and 3 years after high school for football.

In baseball?

high school -> draft with leverage, can go to college
JUCO 1st year -> draft with leverage, can stay in college
JUCO 2nd year -> draft with leverage, can stay in college
D1 school 3rd year -> draft with leverage, can stay in college
D1 school final year -> Draft with no leverage

You literally can have 4 drafts you can stay in for MLB you can use leverage to squeeze the most money out of a team.

You shouldnt feel bad about a senior with no eligibility left having to sign for way under a slot value. They had every opportunity up to that point multiple times over use leverage and their play to their advantage.

Fontenot wouldn't sniff the mound next year.

Homie. You are watching or following the MLB Draft arguing about the MLB and way they do things.

This isn’t a College Draft. It has nothing to do with College.

I found it odd that not long after the Pineda transfer was the Young transfer. I think Jay knew Pineda was a significant draft threat.

I don't think Pineda is a lock to leave, but probably 60/40 lean out the door.

Kinda feel bad for the guy. He was a real basket case this season. Guess he needs to just get on with his life. Playing days are probably over

And if you’re the right age, you can go in as a draft eligible sophomore and add one more option to your list!
