Doughty can play short at a high level. I actually doughty could legitimately play every position on the field.

So we have had 4 signees get drafted and we are mid 5th round? Seems like a good day for us.

He told radio station in Memphis it would have taken $2.75 Million or better to get him to sign. If he would have been drafted in the 25-28 range that's the # he would have been looking at. I think the D-backs overplayed their hand drafting that Pitcher at 26 knowing they would have to pay over slot for him and thinking they could convince Hampton to take a low ball offer. Good for us WE WIN!!

All told, 310 of the 314 players taken in the first 10 rounds of 2018 draft signed pro contracts. (3 of the 4 unsigned were in the 1st round). The four unsigned choices are the third-lowest total ever, after two in 2016 and three in 2017.

Wow. I had no idea it was this cut and dry.

Ehhh, I wouldn't say good, maybe not bad, but losing Cairo is a pretty big blow that wasn't necessarily expected

Mets have taken seniors in rounds 4-5 to acquire that signing bonus to throw at Matthew Allan (Florida commit).

eople don't understand how much negotiating is done prior to these picks. Generally, teams don't waste a top pick on someone that hasn't at least verbally come to terms.

Yeah, not sure how accurate this is (looks correct looking at the first round picks), but it looks like all 4th round picks from last year signed.

Some of those first rounders had medical issues that made the deal fall through too. So take that out and it’s almost a gaurantee

If you go back to the first year of this format in 2012 there has probably been no more than 20-25 players taken in the top 10 rounds who didn’t sign.

He will sign. They aren’t going to waste that pick without knowing it’s a done deal. He is not a Boras guy like Allan either.

It sounds like Doughty is very comparable to Josh Smith?

I have not seen him in person or seen him play but from commentary on him, it seems like he is much bigger than Josh Smith. The MLB scout on Moscona's show yesterday compared him to Jeff Kent. From an LSU perspective, maybe more like a D.J. LeMahieu than a Josh Smith. Maybe like a Braden Shoemake from A&M. In other words, an oversized shortstop who just happens to also be athletic enough to play there.

Had no idea he is a Top 13 prospect. If Florida land him something is fishy...

He’s bigger than Smith but not as tall and rangy as those two.

I'd just like to say how much I appreciate the Mets fricking over Florida by taking Matt Allen and only college seniors since. Here's to you BVW!

Can't believe Duplantis hasn't been drafted yet.

He turned down 7th round money last year. Surprised he wasn't drafted earlier this time and signed under slot since he is a senior.

At least the Mets are working with us to combat the Gators. Any organization trying to screw the Commodores?
