lsualum96, what is traffic like from Old Town Pasadena to Rose Bowl bus lot two hours before kickoff?

Google maps says that it normally takes less than 10 minutes to get to the stadium from old town Pasadena… Obviously on game days it will take longer… But how much longer?

What's wrong with it? Are the apps not reliable? Staying at JW LA Live so right by train station but apparently taking the train will take at least an hour?

That's the problem. It's only 15 miles but metroline ride shows 1 hour + your time to get to Union Square and then teh time to walk from Pasadena station to the Rose Bowl. Looks like 1 1/2-2 hours to do the whole thing. Might be the best option but I was hoping for something a little quicker.

Might need mask for SMOKE.

THIS is my biggest concern, some wildfire springing up nearby and forcing a postponement of the game.

We did the Turo app, and there are cars for as low as $45 a day on there.

Have you used Turo before? I saw that and was considering it to get a convertible, but I didn't want to get cancelled on the morning of the pick up and be scrambling to get a rental car.

does the route posted work on the way back from the game as well?

Yes. You just do it in reverse. It's a $1.75 one way on the train, and a $1.75 to get back home.

Good question Chicken. So here's the thing, it really depends on how crowded the game is. But what I WILL tell you is that the streets are blocked off, and the cops only allow car traffic to go a certain way from Old Town. The shuttle buses from Parsons get the priority to the stadium from Old Town. So, the cops basically form a "bus lane" in which the buses essentially get to drive to the stadium traffic free, with no stops, whereas the cars are stuck in the traffic. If you think you're gonna go out there and set up to tailgate early in the morning, then go ahead and drive. If not, take the Parsons shuttle.

The ride FROM Union Station does not take an hour. I've done it many times. If you ride from the JW Marriot then yea, total ride with transfers may take you an hour and a half. Again, I think the OPTIMAL route is to drive to Union Station, park in their underground parking for $8, and take the Gold Line from THERE. That ride on the gold line is no more than 35 minutes.

Also, If any of you guys want to come early, but want to ride the Parsons shuttle, just hang out with the rest of the SoCal alums at Barney's Beanery until the shuttle starts running around 2:30 pm...............................

Go to lsusocal.org for the link with all the info.

Has our great feathered leader announced yet if there will be a party in LA and its location?
that may be a game day decision. Finding a place to hold our group may be tough. Stay tuned to the Tiger Rant for more info. I will be giving away limited edition TD koozies, made with neoprene...the same material used in Navy SEAL wet suits.

We scheduled brunch at great Maple a few blocks from Barney’s beanery on Saturday morning then will probably head to Barney’s for a few drinks before making our way to the stadium area

So I'm taking my 12 y/o for a father some trip. Did a ton of research earlier in the summer but nothing for quite awhile.

Any suggestions on what to do and see in LA on Sunday on Monday? I understand that's totally subjective but anything helps.

He's never been, it's been years for me. Probably just going to see the various sites like hollywood, santa monica beach, drive to malibu, etc. Look at USC and UCLA. Not planning to do a single "big thing" like universal studios that would take essentially a whole day--that's probably Saturday.

not sure if they'd be open, but for a 12 year old the LaBrea tar pits would be pretty neat

not sure if he'd be interested in this, but John Williams is conducting the LA Philharmonic with movie music (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc) on Sunday night at the Hollywood Bowl

One thing I’m doing is on Friday night John Williams is conducting the LA Philharmonic at the historic Hollywood Bowl with his most famous movie music (Star Wars, Harry Potter, jaws, Indiana Jones, so much more). I ended up buying 4 more tickets than I need. Email me gar90@aol.com if you might be interested.

Griffith Park Observatory has some pretty sweet views if the weather is somewhat clear. Parking is shite though so I would park down below (on Fern Dell) and hike up to it. Probably 45 mins up and 30 mins down.

I feel like this is going to end up as a street party in front of barneys beanery. Maybe they will plan accordingly and set up bars out in front of their restaurant. Get DJ Marsig out front on the 1’s and 2’s.
