Woodard did not give Fisher that contract, he could not have because he was at LSU when he got it.

Landry’s statement was simply a public notice that Woodward was gone. Landry asked Woodward who he had in place as the new coach and Woodward didn’t have anyone. That was inexcusable given the fact that Woodward fired Kelly mid-season with signing day coming up in 5 weeks.

You think it’s inexcusable to not have a new coach lined up in October? Do you think there are a lot of top candidates available right at this moment?
I’m not a huge fan of firing guys in the middle of the season but this is silly. The point of a mid-season firing isn’t to make a mid-season hire. It’s to get a head start on the coaching search, initial conversations with agents, putting out feelers, etc.

A few points:
Coach O had the greatest season ever by an LSU coach.
Coach O, an Alleva hire, then left LSU in absolute shambles. Woodward was left to pick up the pieces and was pressured and submarined in the hire by CT and his movement. That was a terrible time to be in the coaching hunt. Woody overpaid, probably with total approval, and it was considered a pretty high floor, medium ceiling hire.
Coach BK: ego too much to overcome, motivation poor, success poor
Mulkey was overpaid, but over-achieved, but still net negative...probably. Hard to measure the NIL here.
JJ absolutely homerun.
WW, total debacle. MM total debacle. WW coming back, total debacle. MBB, total debacle.
Football, pressured, but will get blamed
Basketball, epic fail
WBasketball, success
Baseball, homerun
Problem is the top two carry all the rest. Who cares that Woodward was the best fundraiser ever, the absolute best funraisers ever appear to be non-employed by the University in HS, TG, GM, and so on. It seems the biggest dollars came organically from the donor/NIL movement....at least that's what it appears.
So, who GAF about Landry. The donors and BOS will be slinging sh*t and calling shots. He's in it for the theatre. While it looks horrible, the next coach will either know what they are getting into, or not give a damn, or both.
The world is about money and can fix stuff fast...regardless of black eyes
