He just does weird things with players and game situations that don't make any sense. The guy really does not understand baseball percentages at all, and he also often misses the bigger picture about preparing players early in the season for late season roles.
I think I've said for a couple of years now, the guy reminds me of a Steinbrenner type. He's authoritarian, and he makes a lot bizarre quirky decisions that don't make much sense, but at the same time, he is absolutely in control of his program and focused on winning championships. You gotta take the good with the bad.
Also, I'm not sure if he's a nice guy IRL or not, but at least with Mainieri I know that he'll always protect the PR image of the program and not embarrass the fans, and that's something I respect very much.
I do think he's got a great shot at challenging for a national title this year, or at least as good a shot as any other team. So unlike last year when I was kind of worried about the hitting, this year I'm much more positive. I think this team will be really really good.

I was about to say that picture is truly timeless, but then I realized how wrong I was because it's clearly 4:14pm.

From what I have read, 5'7" Ibarra has been clocked throwing from third to first at around 90 mph. The spirit of Hanover lives on.

I love that we replaced a 5"7 third basemen with a smooth glove and a canon for an arm with another 5"7 three basemen with a smooth glove and a canon for an arm.

I'd rather us not look like a Southland team on the field, but I guess that's just me.

Southland teams dont usually have guys as good as Hanover out there, they might be as tall/big, but they aren't as good as he was. Hanover will be remembered for a long time, one of the few 4 year good starters we've had here.

Baseball team must be working hard. Bregman tweeted a picture of the clock @ the Box and it read 11:25pm. Looks like they were in the field doing work.

HEIGHT: 5'10"
WEIGHT: 188 lbs.
1ST BASE
Mason Katz Sr.*
Tyler Moore So.
Mason Katz doesn't possess that certain tool that wow's people on a day to day basis. Instead he's your typical college ball veteran, a leader, that spark in the middle of the lineup. In his four years at LSU it's been hard to keep Mason off the field mostly in part to his hot bat. Every championship team has a guy like Katz who's worked his way up into the program, has paid his dues, and carries the team for a certain time if needed. He'll take over at 1st base in two weeks...a position he relatively hasn't had much experience at thus far. I don't see him being a burden defensively, but he'll have him moments early in the year as he gets adjusted. Katz the returning SEC leader in HR's (13) should have another solid year at the plate and what's more important is he'll be protecting Rhymes in the 5 hole and thus not allowing teams to pitch around Rhymes which is something not every college team can do. I would not be surprised at all if Mason hits 15+ HR's. If anyone can handle the switch to 1st similar to what Blake Dean did in 2010 it's Katz, and his glove should be serviceable to give LSU a steady right side of the infield. Katz doesn't have plus speed but he's one of the better runners and instinctive on the base paths. Tyler Moore who may be DH'ing will also serve time as backup as well as Chris Chinea.
Power------65
Hitting------60
Speed------50
Fielding----50
Arm---------50
*Scale 20-Lowest, 50-Average, 80-Top of the Charts*
Strength-Leadership
Weakness-Playing new position
