My main issue w the offense is the nonstop throws to Taylor. He doesn’t have the same ability to create bigger plays like our WR or, specifically, Bech.

I have also been very disappointed in the amount of drops by our WR this season. After being touted as the best unit on offense they simply are not giving the production. Boutte has been extremely underwhelming, and the offense as a whole has been more underwhelming.

I am still amazed at our lack of a true solid/great rb.

Coaching leaves a lot to be desired, but when you make an honest assessment of the team you can’t hide the attrition and poor culture that was left for this staff.

I for one am just enjoying the season for what it is and hoping we can steal some more games (even if ugly) from some teams. All we really need this year is to have a winning record and a bowl game so Kelly can enhance recruiting.

Too many people drank the preseason purple kool aid that LSU had the pieces to make a run at 10 wins. This is a team without cohesive experience that has talented pieces.

We can still get to 8-9 wins but it’s gonna be an ugly grindfest.

It’s seasons like this that lead to the appreciation and joys of winning the SEC and national titles.

I obviously have no way of knowing, but I wonder if the game plan going into this games wasn't this: we know their offense can't beat our defense so offense, just don't lose the game.

Or it seems to me the offense is very comfortable with the short passing game so Auburn said let's take that away with the double zones, which has the back seven on D all looking into the offensive backfield and both of those things helped hold the O in check.

I'm not happy but a win is a win; this won't work going forward but scheme or not we pulled this one out...

First thing, those who say he doesn't go through his progressions and he makes one read and runs, that's crap. He actually does a fair job going through his progressions.

What did you see on pre-snap reads? It looked like there were several times when the safety would crash down, and a WR would be left on an island 1on1 with the CB. JD has to take some shots in this situation, and put the ball where is WR can make a play.

These wins are great, but they won't continue if we keep playing as we have. Our offense is anemic. Everyone's got a blueprint for stopping us. 80 yards passing is not good enough in any league, let alone the SEC. For us to win that game against a terrible Auburn team does not bode well for the rest of the schedule.

Daniel is a good QB, he has helped us win these games we legitimately should not have won. His legs are magic sometimes, and he has shown the ability to stay in the pocket and hit a receiver. However, that is far and away not happening enough. I am not sure if the receivers are simply all overrated, or the system is not working, or if Daniels simply can't throw anyone open, but it needs fixing or we are going to be pounded by the likes of Tennessee and Alabama.

Solid analysis CP3! Everybody wants to pile on JD when in fact in was the entire offense for the most part. I felt like the pass to Nabers was a very catchable ball, off the mark/a little behind him, but very catchable.

I have no faith that he can improve to the point that it makes defenses pay attention to his arm. Nuss needs some reps.

After 5 games there is no way JD can improve, so let's put in Nuss so he can try to improve.

Rant logic.

That’s one of a couple that stand out as catchable balls.

Yea Daniels could have throw it better but he wasn’t that far off. Nabors making that catch wouldn’t have make the Sports Center top 10.

We are like 0% on those kinds of passes. We keep talking up the WRs but good WRs should catch at least half those.

80 yards passing is on Jayden. That’s inexcusable

The WR's, were objectively bad. From the drops, to the route running.

I am HOPING this will wake their lazy asses up. They are supposed to be a strength and have been terrible. Time to step up and win a game.

To many straight drop backs with an ailing O-line. Loved when he ran read option. Fit's us better right now.

I think Auburn did a really good job bracketing our receivers this past game. A lot of times they dropped 8-9 in coverage and when you only have 4 guys on routes obviously you're at a disadvantage with numbers. I feel like it was strategic that they left Taylor some space because of the four guys on routes he was far and away the least likely guy to hurt them, and it showed.

It's a hard one to judge because as a QB, how do you not throw it to the open guy? I can't fault Daniels for that. If anything I guess you would point the finger at the coaches, they've got to recognize what the defense is giving you and do the best job they can at taking advantage of it.

I'm not so sure they could really throw Bech into that role in this game, if he hadn't done anything to prepare for that, but I really hope it's an adjustment they make going forward. Like I said in my original post, it's not something where Bech has to play TE exclusively, but you should take advantage of that mismatch, even if it's just strategically timed.

I would be interested to take a look at our snap count as well. I remember there was one particular play in the redzone where the Auburn right end crashed down so hard I originally thought he was offsides, but he guessed the snap looking at it a second time. Easy to tee off as a pass rusher when you know the snap count.

I’ve been trying to talk sense to younger fans all day. They don’t seem to appreciate the fact that we beat AU, at night, in AU. Especially after spotting them 17 freaking points. The fact that we shut them down from that point on, and scored 21 ourselves (regardless of how we scored) is amazing. I don’t give a shite how good we are or how bad they are, the AU game is rarely an easy win. Given all the challenges we’re currently facing (new players due to injury, young starters, new schemes and coaches) they did outstanding. For most of them, it was their first SEC road game…and on top of that it was at Auburn. Take the W and be happy.

I think we match up pretty well against TN and could very well beat them Saturday also.

Daniels is just not an adequate passer, and i don't think he can be coached during the middle of the season at this time.

I disagree that he can't be coached up now. BK yelled at him during the game about not pulling the trigger on a deep ball. He even addressed it during today's press conference; not every look is going to be wide open, so Daniels needs to be more aggressive.

Daniels isn't a great passer, but he's capable of more than he's shown so far, as evidenced from his ASU days. Kelly and Denbrock are going to drill into his head that he needs to let it rip and trust his WRs to make plays if they want to continue winning games.

agree. the read option can also produce long passing plays if run properly and set up.

Auburn, while they brought pressure at times, largely sat back in coverage and dropped, 8-9 guys. They really took away passing lanes. I feel that's why you saw so much action from Mason Taylor. I didn't have much of an opinion either way on it prior, but I do think there's a little bit to much on Taylor's shoulders right now and I would like to see Bech lined up there a bit more. I don't need him blocking or anything like that, but you're wasting away a mismatch at times.

We make it easy for a DC to take away passing lanes because we won’t take deep shots. It’s the same problem as last year, just for different reasons. Max would try but didn’t have a big arm or good accuracy throwing deep. Once Boutte was out last year, he hit very few big play balls. This year Daniels just refuses to take the shots very often.

Until this changes, DCs can play zone and keep their eyes on Daniels, move the safeties up and crowd the middle of the field knowing he hesitates to throw into tight windows. Until we make a defense pay with some big plays, they have no reason to stretch their coverage.

I see a lot of people happy about all of the zone read plays in the 2nd half. They are effective in the short term, but Daniels also hasn’t finished the last two ballgames and may not be 100% this weekend. We can’t live off of him running in the SEC or he won’t make it much longer.
