You are very mistaken. The people you see on here in support of Wade are the same ones that supported him back then. The ones you see trashing him are the same ones who trashed him back then.

He won the SEC so he couldn’t have been that bad. We all had to listen to the mcmen this past offseason rave about how talented the roster was and we went 3-15. That is a bad Xs and Os coach

The most backwards thing is that they would rave about the roster being CMM's most talented and talk about how CMM is a great coach but the second anyone said they expected our team to make the tourney they would call you a bad fan for having unrealistic expectations. I have never seen a group of people love a coach more without having any confidence that he could win games.

Based on what exactly? That you heard someone equally as clueless say this? That you once saw McMahon run a good in-bounds play or someone scored on a backdoor cut that one time which = "good x's and o's"?
Wade has been a HC for 11 years at 4 different schools. He's never had a losing season. He's finished in the top 3 of the conference 9 of 11 years (that includes 4 times at LSU). He has a career winning % of .700...including a .673 winning % at LSU. He's taken teams to the NCAAT 7x in 11 years (would have been 8 if the 2020 tournament was played).
He took over a complete dogshit program in McNeese St and IMMEDIATELY tied the record for the largest single season turnaround in NCAA history. He's 49-8 (36-2) with two conference championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances in two years. That is a remarkable record regardless of where you are. It's not like he has lottery picks playing Southland competition. He's proven time and again he can get players and win with them.
If a potential LSU coaching candidate had that resume this board would be creaming itself. But, because it's Wade suddenly he's "overrated" and not good enough for a program that was below average for most of the 30+ years Wade wasn't the HC.

Yep, it’s a self perpetuating lie at this point which is why those types of things are started here. The poison on this board is more wily than we give them credit for. They may not be informed at all but they know how to get a rumor to stick, you have to give them credit.

I don't really agree with this, the team was playing at a much higher level than it had been or has since. Yes, we had good talent, but not Shaq and Chris Jackson level talent IMO.
That said, I distinctly recall not being happy with the "street ball" undisciplined style the team played. I honestly can't remember if that was just at the start of his tenure or the whole time, but let's not wear the purple colored glasses and say he was the next coming of Coach K. I don't think he was.
I think he would definitely be a step up over who we have today but I also don't think he's our ride or die. People have to stop living in the extremes on this.

this is modern isolation basketball and it is very effective when you have players like tari eason and Tremont waters and javonte smart.
wade offenses score lots of points. the "street ball" criticism is meaningless when the offense is one of the highest scoring in the conference.

The “street ball” stuff is simply false. While here Wade had one of the most efficient offenses in the country finishing top 5 nationally twice. You can find his offensive sets online as well as pull up highlights and games to see them live. There is no coach who just rolls the ball out and says go play. Thats a myth, every coach runs an offense or sets. Some fans who don’t really follow basketball and haven’t since the Brown days don’t know what modern offenses look like. They’re looking for the old continuous motion offenses but nobody runs those anymore because the shot clock has been shortened so much. Thats usually why you see the “street ball” comments. Other times it’s just fans who dislike the coach ignorantly repeating it just because.
