Remember that Aranda was not an O hire. And he was Associate HC. O had no choice there.

Canada challenged him and was canned despite the offense looking pretty good in the back half of that year.

Joe Brady had never had a high profile job before LSU.

Daronte and Peetz are in the same boat.

If O feels the OC or DC is better , he simply WILL NOT hire them. Ensminger too.

This is a pattern and we will not succeed further with O. Theres a reason we dont hire good coordinators and its not because we cant.

I don't think that's necessarily true, because his whole thing when he was campaigning for the job was that he would hire "the best coordinators and assistant coaches." Like Lane Kiffin was 100% going to be our OC if Saban didn't hook him up with the FAU job.

With that said, I don't O is the best judge of coaching talent, so in that aspect, no, he will not hire anyone better than him more times than not.

I think it's done. Stars have to collide to get O another season. He has to win 7 games and Woodward has to strike out behind the scenes.

Woodward has a history of landing big name hires, but he usually doesn't have to live with them long. It will be interesting to see what he will do now that he's home.

Disagree. Marcus Freeman was pretty much the “hot” up and coming DC in CFB this pst hiring cycle and O was all in on him.

I just don’t think O knows how to run coaching searches (amongst other things he can’t run).

Horrible take and Brady is the perfect example.

You're confusing better with someone who has a more proven track record or more deserving at the time of the hire. No, Ed won't hire Stoops as DC but to say he won't hire anyone better is ridiculous when he's already done it.

O's ego has grown out of control after the 2019 season and his off the field issues prove that. I could definitely see some truth to this post. It's pure speculation but I could easily see him challenging one of his coordinators or position coaches with some dumb shite like, "How many championships have you won?", anytime they suggest anything different and then of course ripping his shirt off. Who knows at this point but it's obvious that the ship is on its way down in Baton Rouge.

Yeah, Brady stealing the spotlight, and now getting credit, and I mean most all the credit fir the 2019 Offense, feeds this probably accurate speculation..

All academic.

He’s dead man walking……only thing that can save him is the same thing that dooms him.

True but proves what a liar he was when he said he’d only bring in the best coordinators.

Now, to be fair, he was going to bring Kiffin in as his original OC and he IS so munch better than O.

That’s not what we’re arguing about. “Anyone better than him” is what we’re discussing. Plus, Marcus Freeman was a big name hire, and Orgeron tried to hire him. The OP is asserting that Orgeron’s ego is too big to hire a big name, and his attempt top hire Freeman is enough to prove that wrong.

I disagree with this.

He just doesn't know how to evaluate, attract high level candidates.

Mebbe so trouser trout.

But my guess is the ending will be better for him where he ended up than if he had come onboard with the Ed shiz show.

On a side note, Freeman hasn't looked great at Notre Dame. They gave up 38 points to an FSU team that only managed 17 in a loss to Jacksonville St the next week and 29 points to Toledo this week. ND plays Cincy on Oct 2. That should be an interesting game.

There was some question if Fickell was the real architect of the Cincy D and they may be the case, but I do think Freeman is a good coach and would have been a better long term hire at LSU if we could have gotten him here.

There goes any chance of bringing in Curley Hallman.
