Tldr but to answer your question - I'd be impressed with a 9 win season this year. I'll be on board if he can pull that off. On paper, we may be a 6-6 team, if not 5-7.

A win vs Bama is also impressive regardless of the final record. But I'd rather 9 win season and lose to Bama. That's this year. Next I have higher expectations.

For me to change my opinion, he would have to win no less than 10 regular season games this year, win the bowl game to make the final record 11-2. Finish the season ranked in the top ten and bring in a top 5 class.

Mike Archer went 10-1-1 and finished #5. Hell Gene Chizik won a NC. 1 season doesn’t tell you anything. The “process” needs to be working. Recruiting, the hiring of quality assistants those will be the markers of long term success

I’m not going to defend Miles. We all know the reasons for him being let go. Orgeron is now 0-2 against Bama and I have seen nothing on offense resembling any sort of legitimate improvement from what lead to Miles being let go in the first place.

The difference between Miles and Orgeron(among many, many things) is Miles deserved the benefit of the doubt based on a proven history of success. Orgeron does not. Orgeron would need to post a 2011 like result this year for me to forget about his lack of success in any capacity outside of recruiting. He simply has not shown an ability to do that as head coach. Anywhere.

I agree 100%. That's why I said that o would have to do it more than just one year. He would have to show some consistency year after year. And I mean double digit wins and top ten finishes and recruiting classes.

Not the 8 and 9 wins a year kind of consistency.

They didn't like the last coach, they don't like this coach, they won't like the next coach. They don't know what being the joke of a sport means and they don't know what it is to actually suck.

Happy to have the trenches filled, but roster management must improve.
Offensive Line trenches filled with what; maybe grape and lemon jello. LSU not even close in that vital area.

We were told O was the perfect hire because he was already established in the program and at minimum he would be able to maintain status quo and get us back to competing for championships without any kind of rebuild.

Stories change for O to make sure that he isn't held accountable for decisions or information.

I agree.

Also, he must beat Bama.

I don't put that much emphasis on this game. If he goes 10-2 with losses to Bama and Georgia, especially with this offense, it would be a pretty impressive feet.

Also, if he goes 8-4 or 7-5 and just happens to pull the upset against Bama, I don't think that should save him.

I will change my opinion of him when he is no longer in charge of our football program, and back as a position coach somewhere where he belongs.

I know everyone’s sick of losing to bama, but this

otherwise he'll be 0-3 against Bama with no signs of being able to compete.

winning the SEC west this season

Again, LSU could go 11-1 and not win the west. As much as I dislike Ed, it would be hard to argue that an 11-1 record with that one loss coming against say an undefeated Bama is not a great year.

Chances that it happens are pretty close to zero.

Cherri0 stupidity in this post. I liked Miles and defended him for a long time. If we make a good hire, I'll like the next coach.

0 is a fricking bum and should never have been given this opportunity, and all he's done is prove that.

Let me guess, you think we were ever in that game last year?

10-2, nothing less. Same expectations I had last year. There needs to be a real sense that this team is on the rise. Just like I told my ex girlfriend two months ago, I fully expect to go 7-5 this year but if he wins 10 games this year I will gladly give him another year because then he will have earned it. But anything less and I want alleva gone and O gone shortly after we hire alleva's replacement.

And you were ok with Jimbo Fisher going 6-6 using his injured QB as an excuse?

At least Jimbo has a history of success to point at, unlike Ed.

8-5 and will make my opinion worse.

9-4 will reinforce me opinion

10-3 will make me want to give him a 3rd year

11-2 and up would change my opinion completely.
