I think In our situation it is.

I think Some coaches are way more involved in certain sides of the ball.

we have guys questioning why the db's play off the receivers...but our head coach that has coached defense all his life isn't capable of making good suggestions on how to play defense...this board is ridiculous!

Did I say That?

Or did I say

quote:

And just to be clear I am not saying O is wrong or this is bad. It’s just exactly what we all said. It’s Aranda’s Defense.

Sometimes you can state your intentions as clearly as the English language will allow and people will still twist it up in knots. It's quite remarkable.

i wasn't calling you out I was jsut responding to the OP. You know we see people saying "he better not interfere with Arandas defense"...why? Arandas defense is under performing and when you compare his defenses to Chavis who really had the better defenses? 3rd and chavis is still an issue now but lets ignore it because everyone has made Aranda the best DC ever.

O knows defense, but I do not want him second guessing Aranda on anything. Aranda knows more about defense than O will ever know.
I don't want O meddling with the offense at all, either. He has no expertise on that side of the ball.

Honestly I wonder what the relationship with johnson is like.

I'm thinking Ed O is bringing him along like a mentor. He let's Johnson coach, and then takes him aside and let's him know what he's seeing and suggests how to remedy it. Johnson then goes out and implements the change like it was his idea.

3rd and Chavis wasn’t so bad till the last couple of years where Chavis posted a 3rd Down conversion % at 36% and 38%

Aranda has never gone above 35%. I also think all our stats are squewed based on early competition.

Saying the defense is underperforming is fricking rediculous. Considering it’s given us great field position all year and lead to multiple scores.

Even as a hardcore Orgeron skeptic, I have no problem with him making suggestions and being involved with decisions. It's his arse on the line and he should do what he thinks is best. Suggesting and discussing is one thing. Forcing plays from a totally different playbook is another.

Yep agree completely. Just dont scapegoat people when your ideas dont work out....a la Canada (allegedly)

Just curious but do you think that the Bama DC does anything that Saban does not want done? And exactly the way he wants it done.

That is a terrible comparison to make. The worst one you could possibly have made.

Over a page and a half before some dipshit brought up Saban. That's progress.

O is probably one of the best DL coaches in the country and Johnson is very green.

I would guess it's a mentor relationship. Meatball would be a fool if he didn't attempt to learn from one of, if not the best Dline coaches in the country.

I'm sure he leans on Coach O a lot. I know I would

From technique on the D line, probably.

He's always been good there. Always.
