Nussmeier Injury Explanation : Cyst on Spine

Either way, doctors say, there is no short- or long-term risk for Nussmeier, who is projected a mid-round pick in this week’s NFL Draft.

That sounds like something that would cause pretty bad discomfort and pain. Crazy they somehow just found this.

that makes perfect sense to me. There is absolutely no question that Nuss was injured last year and not the same thrower or runner as he had been previously, or capable of.
Continuing to play him and not correctly diagnose that problem was clearly on our incomparable HC, imo.
Nuss has a chance with the right team, great receivers like Burrow had/has, to have a successful career in NFL. I'm rooting for him.

So this could have been solved in 2 to 3 weeks, but it never got found? Woof.

Let's not get carried away he was never a runner. We were dying for him to take off running and he almost never did. The question is why?

If this is true. And it’s a simple procedure that’s 2-3 weeks recovery. Why not do it now instead of waiting for symptoms to return? Seems sketch

He's in the middle of a 4 month span that he's needing to perform for NFL teams to get his stock back up.

Not defending or bashing the LSU medical staff as we don’t have all the information about initial injury and rehab, but based on everything we know, here’s what I think did happen:
Nuss suffered an oblique strain early in fall camp and underwent the typical treatment process. Limit reps, and focused rehab with stretching and strengthening with a typical return to 100% anywhere from 2-6 weeks.
After a month, he wasn’t improving. Lack of mobility, a bad OL, and facing defenses that know you can’t stretch the field certainly didn’t help matters.
After 2 months of setbacks and 4 losses later, they mutually decide to completely shut him down to allow the strain to fully heal.
Unbeknownst to them, a ganglion cyst was pressing on the nerve root this whole time leading to radicular pain and muscle weakness, delaying his recovery. This was not discovered until the NFL combine.

How did LSU medical team not discover this on an MRI last year?

Look, I hate Kelly, but this isn't on him. Cysts are easily detected, especially when cat scans, mri, and xrays are constantly being done to a high value athlete.
The real question is..who is or are the fricking complete morons that missed something this blatant?
If Kelly was told it was a muscle issue, and the muscle showed no tear or whatever, then thats what Kelly, or any coach, would base decisions on.

If this was truly never found (and Nuss isn’t just bullshitting to save his draft stock), it should be the end of certain medical staff involvement with LSU athletics
LSU Starting QB is the student athlete of greatest significance in the entire athletic department. To not find a cyst after all he went through last offseason and the past season?
1) Get those people the frick away from our athletes
2) Do everything Nuss asks so an eventual lawsuit is on the physicians and not LSU
