And I think you a retard if you think a 4 TD win is a shootout.

He needs 37; he threw 29 last year. Improve just a little, go to Atlanta and the playoffs and it should happen.

Joe B's single season record (60 TDs) may be safe...but we can dream.

I think he will crush the career TD record. Over 80

That would be fantastic but no chance he goes for over 40 this year.

Different game, different offensive philosophy in recent years.

Les Miles was a quarterback killer. I’ll give him his dues for winning games but he was a quarterback killer.

Jayden Daniels went from 17 to 40
Joe Burrow went from 16 to 60

But Nussmeier can’t go from 29 to 40

Hodson had 4 years starting to reach that.

But those numbers for Hodson do not include the bowl games he played in.

Hodson’s true numbers are

9,690 yards
75 TDs
44 INTs

Anyone want to guess what Pro QB put up these numbers? Two more TD’s than INT’s.

Passing attempts:
3,901
Passing completions:
2,025
Completion percentage:
51.9%
TD–INT:
212–210
Passing yards:
27,989

Pretty wild that 3 of the 4 top statistical QBs in LSU History could have all seen the field in a 4 year span from 2019 to 2022.

The game has changed. They allow offensive pass interference, offensive holding and they don’t let the defense hit “defenseless” ball carriers. Of course passing games today are more prolific.

Let's not forget about "That Kid" Jayden.

We’re talking career records. Jayden and Burrow only played two years. Nuss will have two years as a starter, but he is spotted 1700 yards he picked up as a backup.

Nuss only needs 3344 passing yards to break the school career passing yard record. That is very doable.

Great guess, but his numbers are worse!

Career NFL statistics
Passing attempts:
3,642
Passing completions:
2,011
Completion percentage:
55.2%
TD–INT:
125–173
Passing yards:
23,911

More on the QB I was asking about:

Nicknamed the Blonde Bomber, he won four Super Bowls in a six-year period (1974, 1975, 1978, and 1979), becoming the first quarterback to win three and four Super Bowls, and led the Steelers to eight AFC Central championships. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989, his first year of eligibility. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996.

I would prefer he doesn't get close to the record, and we run the ball for a change.

He did!

Now name his receivers.
Burrow was little above average his first year, without three NFL receivers. Chase and Jefferson were all world.

The same with Daniels' receivers. Both are dominating NFL.

Hodson had one receiver who was dominant. Wendell Davis was awesome but he left for the NFL before Hodson was a Sr. Then Hodson was less effective.

None of Nuss' receivers have attained that status yet.

That 2019 defense was bad the first 2/3 of the season, Burrow had to win a lot of shootouts.

They were not a bad defense... They just were not as good as some of the others...

For context... the shootouts you are talking about are????

Texas? Week 2? At that point both teams had a lot on the line, it was a million degrees and we were on the road. They were a top 10 team.

Florida at home? We won by 2 scores.... it was close for most of the game but the defense got the necessary stops and again... a top 10 team.

Auburn???? Yes that game was too close for comfort but they were a top 10 team that we held to 20 points... Burrow and the boys struggled in the red zone. Oh yea... another top 10 team

Alabama???? The team we hadn't beaten in almost a decade? On the road? We were up 3 scores at half... I think Orgeron thought they would roll over and it nearly bit us.. Also a top 10 team.

Ole Miss? We beat them by 3 scores...

I get that our defense allowed a lot of yards and several points but it was to some really good teams....

Lets not act like 2019 was 2008 bad.

And it was actually a 5 TD lead after 3 quarters and Burrow didn’t play the 4th quarter. If it was a shootout, we’d have scored 80.

And to top it off, 2 of Vandy's TDs were defensive scores, including one with under 2 min to play (Pick 6 off of Brennan).

This was not a shootout. Vandy scored 24 pts on offense, LSU scored 66.

I’d take him running more to keep defenses honest in lieu of the record

I've heard he has speed - but if so, he is deceptively slow.

I don't recall many ''escapes' that he has performed, seems as if he goes down pretty easily.

No doubt he has a good arm - just hope he has time to exercise it.

Certainly plenty of capable receivers for Nuss to target.

If he can stay healthy, should have a banner season.
