BREAKING: QB Garrett Nussmeier tells me he's remaining at #LSU.

Nussmeier passed on both NCAA Transfer Portal windows to stay with the Tigers.

With 3 more years of eligibility, and Jayden Daniels in his final season, the QB future is bright for LSU.

When I saw the tweet I had a very brief panic attack before I read the rest of the headline.

He's also one snap away from being the starter, just like any other backup player. I love seeing this from a modern day player and it's sad that it's such a rare occurrence.

Great news. Great kid. JD and Nuss are the best QB room in the country. Thanks BK!

Shea should be ashamed of this.

Why exactly? It's not like Nuss was going to have a presser saying "hey, I'm not going anywhere".

Yep. Has Jayden announced his return yet?

Great news. Hopefully he can develop over the next year because he’s got a long way to go.

It's a little odd to me as well, but times continue to change. I guess this will be a thing now. I was never worried about Nuss leaving, but I am thankful he confirmed he is staying. That is huge.

I agree but at the same time LSU has arguably been the #1 beneficiary of the T.P. to date

Because Nuss never gave any inclination he was leaving? This isn't breaking news. He's on the team. Why does Shea have to "break" a story that he's staying.

Transfer portal just closed and Nuss was a prime target for anyone needing a quarterback, Alabama was a potential suitor before they signed the guy from Notre Dame and Florida isn't in great shape at the position after their spring game. There was buzz and Nuss put it to bed.

ETA Leave it to LSU fans to find something to gripe about even in this.

This is patently untrue.

I have been consistent that I think JD is the correct starter, but Nuss has some real positives that would make him effective in the SEC if and when he plays. This is by definition not a 'long way' from being ready. He could do some things better, but that will come with maturity and not trying to win the job each time out.

Why would he go to Alabama or Florida? Wouldn’t he have been ineligible to play this upcoming season?
