Nuss better start running on some zone reads, Burrow did that

That’s the only thing missing in Nuss’s game

Too risky ... back up QB is weak.

If Nuss is sidelined for a 1-2 games due to injury our season is over.

JD was a great athlete but OC was confident to call QB run play because Nuss was the backup.

You can’t play scared to get hurt. That’s BS.
If the run is there 3-5 times a game you take it. It’s called playing football.

Burrow had the exact same issue in 2018 when he was here. It wasn't until the Georgia game that he ever held it. He held it once for the Ole Miss game. Once he started to hold it, though, that play opened up because defenses honored the fact he would hold it when it was read properly. Right now, no player honors Nuss' reading.

That may not be true. Collin’s throws a nice ball - at least what I saw in his limited appearances.

But Nuss needs to run more and slide. The run is open for moderate gains.

It looks like the coaches said, “Nuss, these kids on the bench aren’t ready for prime time, so your arse is NOT going to run, no matter what.”

Only thing missing?

I’d like to see him step into throws, instead of throwing off his back foot all the time.

Other than that, love the kid and I want him to be super successful.

The opposing defensive coordinators don't either, which is why Nuss is completing half of his passes throwing into double coverage instead of making them account for him as a potential running threat

he had been doing that for most of the year until Saturday night. That was obviously the gameplan, I just don't understand all the bombs. I guess OM has a tendency to interfere, so I guess we were going for that, IDK.

I agree with this. Maybe early this year the backups weren't ready, but I don't see the harm in Nuss taking off 2-3 times a game to keep the defense honest, as long as he takes the yards given, and gets down before contact.

I agree we need to run more, but it is hard to gauge a player's ability when put in against inferior team's backups. It is obviously different on the big stage against top competition.

come on man, he had a rough game, but came through on the biggest stage when we needed him most.

going into the game he was completing 70% of his passes. Take a look at Burrow in 2018.....he was below 50% in more than one game.

Not disagreeing with you, but I promise, every time Nuss will scramble/ tuck and run, some goober is going to post "he had Anderson/ Lacy/Taylor/ etc wide arse open and ran instead"

Oh give it a break. He certainly hasn’t went 8-20 & 8-15 so far this year in a game.

If he's doesn't pull the ball a couple times a game the defense will not respect the option and just crash on the running back every time. If that's the case then take the option play out the play book all together.

That’s stupid. Almost any team who has a stud at QB (Nuss has moments of “students”) is going to be in deep trouble if their guy gets hurt. Teams like S Car it doesn’t matter as much. But Ewers/Manning is not a common situation at all.

QB’s run and slide all the time. No one’s saying run him right up the middle or run head on into an opposing player.

Our season would’ve been over in 2019 had Burrow gone down.

Nuss either needs to tuck it and run or they need to stop calling the RPOs altogether.

Only thing I can think of to rationalize the RPO playcalls at this point, is that it is some long con and Nuss will have a designed run at a critical point in a huge game later in the season.

The best thing about Saturday’s game, obviously other than winning. The damn thing, was Nussmeier has a whole tape worth of opportunities that he can easily correct.

For three quarters, he looked like a backup Qb. He will get from this game. Running, checking down, more TE throws, etc.

Have you ever considered that the coaches are telling him not to run?
