Go to hell Notre Dame!

Why does anyone care if ND opts out of bowl season? If the Players voted to decline a bid, that's on them. ND certainly doesn't need the money, and why risk opt outs and injuries for a meaningless exhibition game.

Do you not see the irony in Notre Dames decision. Look at the OP.

The decision has nothing to do with a policy from 50-60 years ago. If the Players feel like they got screwed, it's their decision.

The 1969 team that went 9-1 set to play in the 1970 Cotton Bowl was quarterbacked by Mike Hillman from Lockport.

That was a great team led by a great D.

But out of nowhere Notre Dame decided to change their bowl policy and bumped LSU out of the Cotton Bowl. LSU decided to stay home and sit out bowls.

Yes, ND changed their policy, but they did not decide that LSU was out, the Cotton Bowl decided that LSU was out. Thought it was childish to sit out the bowl games--there were only 10 back then, so they were all significant. It was a stupid protest because nobody really gave a shite and LSU was only hurting itself. The players voted not to participate, but they were really only following the lead of a pissed off McClendon.

I’m not a ND fan either, but Texas, Vandy or ND should have the 11 & 12 spots. It’s a complete joke that JM & Tulane are in. Common sense was not used in the way they picked the 12 teams.

Fine, but it doesn’t matter. There should not be 12 teams because about 7 or 8 have no friggin chance.

This is total crap. LSU was set to play in that game. At the LAST minute mighty Notre Dame decided to change their bowl policy and the suck ups didn’t hesitate to take them. Texas beat their arse 21-17. There were only 11 bowl games at that time so LSU was fricked.

From ND’s perspective: They were ahead of Bama at #9 for two weeks. Then, magically, the committee dropped them behind Bama at #10 before this week’s games. They didn’t lose. They didn’t play a close game to inferior competition like Bama did vs Auburn.

The committee has done this shite for years. Why make weekly polls if they are logically inconsistent

Back then, the big four bowls were the only ones that mattered to the good teams. We would have played No 1 Texas. It was a big time disappointment. Fook Notre Dame and the Cotton Bowl.

Notre dame is so gay - always hated how many people in Louisiana (especially older generation) also cheer for notre dame because they’re Catholic. It’s amazing they finally got f’d and aren’t the darling getting whatever they want

I remember this. Did LSU decide not to play in a bowl game or were there were no bowls available for them to attend? ND also possibly cost LSU the 1969 National Championship. That '69 defense was ferocious.

I don’t understand why people keep saying this. The committee didn’t pick JMU or Tulane over Notre Dame. They picked JMU and Tulane over 8-5 Duke.

I think Bama deserves to bein playoff over Miami or ND. They did split with UGA and the we know the SEC is a much harder schedule than anything ND has. That ND schedule was a joke. What quality win did they have?
Now maybe UT and Bama argument is legitimate. But if you penalize Bama for losing SECCG then teams will opt out of conf championships.

As long as ESPN runs the show, Three Loss Bama will almost always be in the 12 team playoff. There IS a "Bama Bias" and that's why many say that Bama is the better HC job over LSU, because there is no LSU bia.

Two Loss Bama will always be a lock for the 12 team playoff.

I doubt you'll ever see a Three Loss LSU team in the 12 team playoff.

That story is not true, has been widely circulated and believed. I have spoken to players on the team and Notre Dame gets the beating from LSU fans for not going to a bowl that year. The truth lies in the arrogance of former coach Charles McClendon who angered the Cotton Bowl committee with a nasty public remark in the locker room following a game.
