Spoken like someone who doesn’t remember the decade of failure Notre Dame went through before Brian Kelly took over that program. BK brought the Irish back to CFB relevancy. Freeman is riding that legacy.
This is a common refrain I see here but it's just not in context. Weren't y'all better than ND the past two years?

Who? You must be talking about LSU right?

Your memory is very poor. BK left ND after an 11-1 season playing the typical ND "sisters of the poor schedule" that ND hides behind every year.
LSU presented BK with 39 scholarship players when he walked onto campus.
BK made a couple coaching hire mistakes early and has just now cleaned those up. Plus LSU did not do a good job of handling the early NIL process, but that isn't BK's fault. They have now straightened that out and while we will never be the highest payroll in the nation we are now competitive.
Marcus Freemen is a really good young coach and any P4 school would be happy to have him. But again, ND fans' memories are very poor as the Irish had not been relevant in CFB since ole Coach Lou won a Natty in . . . let me see, when was that? Oh yea, 1988! That's almost 37 years ago and the Irish were actually embarrassing many years between then and BK's revival of the Golden Domers! And that is against a JV schedule of service acadamies, and other weak football school annually. They play about 2 real games per season which allows players to stay healthy and get ready for their occassional real opponent.

Damn all that just to still get beat by double digits in the title game. Just like BK

A crap take. How do you know? And when did BK beat three top 10 teams in the postseason and at least looked like they belonged on the field the second half, unlike BK's ND teams.

LSU was carried by 3 offensive 1st round picks in Daniels, Nabers & Brian Thomas Jr those 2 seasons because Coach O left scraps on the defensive side of the roster. In 2020 & 2021, O rathered chase blond bitches & tell recruits to go elsewhere once he became a lame duck.

Before tonight, there wasn't an opportunity to beat 3 teams in the playoffs.

He won 3 playoff games (TWO more major bowl wins than CBK has EVER won).
He was given a top-5 team, greatly increased resources (thanks to BK lighting a fire under ND’s cheap program), and an incredibly easy path (overrated Indiana, a first-game starting QB, and James Freaking Franklin) and rode all the way until he was staring into the abyss of a 31-7 third quarter deficit to a 2-loss 8-seed before they got conservative a killed the clock to win the game.
Congrats?

2022:
LSU 10-4
ND 9-4
2023:
LSU 10-3
ND 10-3
2024:
LSU 9-4
ND 14-1
The difference is Brian Kelly took over a LSU team that was a combined 11-12 in the 2 seasons prior to his hiring and was down to a total of 35 scholarship players while Marcus Freeman took over a program that had won at least 10 games every season going back to 2017.

Those top ranked teams would roll this year's playoff field. What ND fans are failing to see is when Kelly got to the Championship, he had to be one of the top 2 teams without a playoff, he also made the 4 team playoff. Freeman would not have made a 4 team playoff. Kelly also didn't have the luxury of NIL and the transfer portal. Why cant ND fans be thankful for the man saving their mediocre program and making it a 10 win program and leaving a well rounded program for Freeman to continue???
Bingo. Indiana didn’t belong and everyone said so. Penn state is mediocre and they got Georgia without a quarterback.
If freeman gets them to the semifinal a couple of more times he would then match what Kelly did. Thats a fact, not an opinion

lol....my god our fanbase
There was legit one really good team this year, all the rest are average....and Ohio State played like it for 2.5 quarters then got a big lead and lost focus.
I don't even remember who ND played first in the postseason, but it is comical you calling them top 10....SMU or Indiana, either way a joke...Same with Penn State...solid team that never beat anyone this year.....and Ga played without a starting QB....sometimes I just hope you people are trolling instead of genuinely that emotionally unstable.

LSU hasn't been close to a championship team in the last 5 years. They have a chance at being back next year.
Ohio State was light years better than you, be glad they lost focus once they went up by 24 points midway through the 3rd quarter. Again, ND is an average team...QB can run, but is shite passing...D is decent, but certainly the stats were inflated due to the poor regular season schedule...and, again, Indiana was not an elite top 10 team in reality...everyone knew that....they never beat a really good team all year.....Penn State either...good solid team.

Unfortunately, he’s just unstable. He has been on an lsu website for several weeks seeking justification from a fanbase of a team who stole their coach, and now they’re having success so it feels so good to rub it in. And instead of celebrating their greatest year ever in over 40 years, he runs and cries to every response that disagrees with him. Yes he is genuinely unstable.

Using your logic, Ohio St would not have been in this year’s playoff.

Why are you coming here to cope?
The truth is usually in the middle. Freeman and Kelly are both great coaches. NIL/the portal allow ND to get peak players in a way ND couldn't in the kelly era. ND is still a second tier program regardless of coach and will always be.

Freeman's already outperformed BK at Notre Dame. But I don't expect some LSU fans to have a realistic take.

Freeman isn't a fraud coach.
This is just Notre Dames peak
Time reveals all, this is his third year. Sample size is still to0 small to crown him or dismiss him.
Under last year's format ND does not even make the four-team playoff, they finished 5th in the final CFP poll which is what was used to pick the four teams and their SOS was in the 30's I believe after the regular season.
They did beat Georgia who I think was more talented, backup QB or not, and they did beat Penn St. who I thought was about on the same level as they were, so credit to ND for accomplishing that - no small feat.
But again....time will tell.

Sir, your team is weak. No balance on offense. Defense is as soft as the schedule. ND will not win a title again for a long time. Enjoy the championship "kiss," because title "succ-sex" is not going to happen for the Irish for a long time.
