That puts us 2 over currently. They may be in a holding pattern waiting to see if a pitcher gets injured and gives us additional spots.
But they also said they're still looking for infielders (there are some names posted in the recruiting thread that we have some connection to). So I have to think we're looking at more attrition.

Do you realize he’s recovering from an injury that doesn’t require surgery. I’m pretty sure you have no real idea what is going on...

Les, for all of his faults, never ran his players over with the bus like Paul does on a weekly basis.
For the record, I have no problem with Paul publicly criticizing players. But the interview where he complained that his job security depended on the performance of 18-20 year olds was embarrassing. He gets paid in excess of $1 mil a year. Maybe he should contemplate why his players weren’t ready to handle the big stage last week.

Now the timetable is stretching out into possibly not even throwing this fall, and we're supposed to expect him to be ready to go next season without pitching until maybe spring practice? For an injury that is supposedly "minor" that seems a bit much. We've seen this play out with Latz, with Labas, with Storz, with Gilbert, etc. At some point, we need guys on the roster that can produce and not just keeping guys with potential on the roster that can't even play. If we didn't have such extreme roster limitations set by the NCAA, then we could afford to continue to carry multiple injured players on the roster every season. But we do and we can't. It's getting pretty old to consistently have to rely on freshmen, then cut bait with underclassmen to make room for more freshmen who may or may not have injury concerns coming into school.
And lol an overly emotional. I've been MUCH more patient with this "process" than most on here.

I think you're confused. There has been nothing that said "minor" in relation to his injury. The only thing that's been said is that it's a UCL strain, which is not minor, does not require surgery, and demands rest.

The NCAA grants additional roster spots when a pitcher is forced to sit the entire year due to injury. It's how Clay Moffitt got a spot when Eric Walker had surgery.

An injury that doesn't require surgery shouldn't take a year of rehab. My guess is this injury is more serious than the staff has been leading on all year.

Jake Slaughter was told to sign or he would be gone. Not very often a draft-eligible sophomore leaves for $125k
Chris Reid was initially cut
Nick Webre transferred out
Taylor Peterson trasnferred
Matt Schroer transferred before the season last year
Brandon Nowak transferred
Now, I'm not saying some of those players didn't need to be processed to make room for incoming recruits, but this has been happening for years. Some of these guys never resurface, but some do find great success elsewhere. What isn't helpful is having so much inexperience throughout the roster. The two seasons in which we had the most wealth of experience throughout the roster, we played for national titles.

what about Labas, Storz, McMurray and Gilbert, none of whom picked up a baseball this year? Did we just decide not to fill those roster spots?

I am pretty sure he can't recruit off campus as a volunteer. There is no way he would take the pay cut to be a volunteer after the classes he has pulled in.

what does that have to do with anything? If he can't play, then he can't play. I'll say the same thing about Storz. I don't care how talented they may be or how much potential they may have, if they're unable to play, they're not helping us win. We don't have the luxury of calling up players while others are injured.

Apparently.
And I don't disagree with you on pushing guys out of the program. But I don't think the answer is pushing out injured pitchers that have the potential to be high impact guys.
ETA: On the specific guys you mentioned, Nowak never threw a pitch this season for Mississippi College. Petersen was bad for Metro State, Schroer didn't pitch after like the third week of his teams season and he was terrible.
Threadgill and Ripoll both produced more at LSU individually than those three combined and had more potential than any of them. I'm sad to see those two go.

It doesn’t matter who we recruit if we continue to fail at player development so pervasively, continue to have unexplainable injuries to our pitching staff, and lack any semblance of an offensive approach tailored to individual players and their strengths
