They'll fire him for cause, then tell him either re-negotiate a lower buyout number or good luck outspending us in court when we drop all of the Title IX stuff on your arse.

It seems very likely the full $21 million will not happen.
Since everyone's been suggesting names today & Hugh Freeze has come up, I'm sure LSU can do something similar to what Ole Miss did with him.
They gave him the option to resign or they could fire "with cause". Either way, I don't think the full $21 mill will apply.

They had Freeze by the balls more then LSU has O. It will be the same strategy though. LSU will fire him with a reduced buy out or fire him for cause and fight it out in court which neither side wants.

They will ask, "why have you waited this long then".
If they had a fireable by cause situation, they would have done it by now.
Even so, his buyout is manageable if you understand how it is paid out. He would not get a lump sum, but rather a monthly payout over a long period of time. For instance, Les Miles' buyout was to be paid out over 6 years after his firing (eventually, mutually agreed to a payout with LSU to pursue Kansas job)

$21M is chump change for a buyout, it will be taken care of no problem
