Are they still talking about three "permanent" opponents for each of the SEC teams? I know that was a thing when Texas and Oklahoma became members of the league.

Or will we freely rotate opponents, and next two years, we may play home/road games vs Auburn, Georgia and Miss St, and yet not have Bama, Ole Miss and Florida on the schedule? It seems weird to break up traditional rivalries, but... as Bob Dylan said so many years ago, tempora mutantur---

I would much rather play Texas than Bama. Texas went 0-2 vs Top 25 teams going into CFP. Their 7 SEC wins went a combined 18-38 in the SEC. So they can beat sub .333 SEC teams, but not Georgia. Played the entire bottom half of SEC sin Georgia. I still think they are faux. I still think LSU would easily handle them this year.

Bama still has like 5 straight years of top 2 recruiting classes every single year. Bama is still more talented and better than Texas despite Bama record last year.

I remember hiring a coach for winning games at Vandy.

Kelly will lose 3 games minimum like he’s always done at LSU. We will not make the playoffs. Dude is a loser.

Or maybe the loser is the troll on a message board calling a head coach a loser when all he does it flip fries for a living.

Let's look at some other gems of yours..

Ira a favorable schedule for sure but The road still runs through Tuscaloosa. If any LSU team is going anywhere it must take down the Tide first. The only other tricky road game is at Oxford but they’re not expected to be nearly as good. That last game in Norman could be a problem if Mateer is as good as advertised.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable but let’s not pretend it’ll be a cake walk. DeBoer is a good coach and them losing to Vandy and Oklahoma last season was a fluke.

I just have a hard time seeing Florida SC or A&M coming into Tiger Stadium and getting a win.

Senior QB returning.....10-2 has gotta be the floor guys.

Are you saying the team is on paper good enough to be at least 10-2 and anything short of that would be an indication that something else (coaching) is wrong?

Or, are you saying that the team SHOULD be good enough to go 10-2 given the relatively easy schedule (no TX or GA) and the fact that we have an experienced QB.

Those are two different things. When I look at this team on paper, I'm pretty worried about the OL. And, I certainly won't be surprised if our defensive backfield is a weakness as well...although I am hopeful it's much better.

I think a lot of fans can't separate what they want to be the case with the reality of the situation on the roster.

OL has proven pieces but they haven’t played together yet.

Our corners should be solid but I’m concerned with the safeties. It’s a hole we need to patch and Klubnik can really take advantage of it.

You never want to see a talented team like LSU play really good teams early because it always takes awhile for that chemistry to get meshed together

Wouldn't that same logic apply to the "really good teams" LSU is playing early?

That’s such a scared little boy attitude. The team learns absolutely nothing playing cupcakes. You want chemistry? Pour on the adversity.

You said in your OP that lsu will be good because their QB is returning

Does that not apply to Vandy?

I 100% agree but this team HAS to be ready to go out of the gate. We start with Clemson and then get Florida week 3. There is no time to find our identity for a month. We need to start at minimum 2-1 and starting 3-0 would be HUGE for our season.

The only "excuse" is an injury to Nuss or a rash of injuries around him. Injuries are the only reason this team should win less than 10 games.

While I agree, we also go as the OL goes and as the defense goes. We need the OL to at least be serviceable and we need the D to be top half of the league.
