Sampson did play briefly in the NBA, I believe with the Bulls.
Shhhh. Everyone was a scrub. Wade had to teach Skylar and Duop how to play basketball.

Will wade is not stupid
He knew he could dominate that terrible conference and put himself in position for something bigger while he rehabs his image

This thread has completely gone away from the original intent….

So are we 100% in the NIT? Any chance Aggy and/or MSU get left out of the big dance?

Never said that, but to say WW inherited a gaggle of really good players, which is what was said, is really a stretch.

KJ Williams has started 9 games this year for a really good Oklahoma City NBA team, Mwani I'm sure could play somewhere overseas if he choses when his college days are over, Adam Miller and Hannibal will likely play some sort of professional ball, I could see both getting G-League, stints - does that mean CMM had a lot of really good players his first year?

Just providing some perspective. I have no axe to grind with CMM, I hope he succeeds.

They certainly developed and improved significantly under WW, I don't think that's even debatable.

Are you sure KJ Williams started games for OKC? They have a couple of other guys named Williams.

Also KJ and Trae were 2 guys that McMahon brought in. Mwani and Miller were 2 guys sitting in the portal. They weren't on the roster. Huge difference. Plus Mays and Duop >>>>>>>> Adam Miller, and Mwani was hurt most of last year.

If you are trying to make a case that Adam Miller, Mwani, and Justice Williams somehow equate to a full roster with at least some talent at every position, you are too far gone. There isn't a bit of comparison.

Updated forecast has LSU playing UC Irvine.

Would rather play some dogshit power 5 team than a mid major conference winner.

The fact is Wade had eventual NBA talent on his team when LSU signed him. Period. End of story. Didn’t say they were NBA ready when he got there. What did McMahon have when they signed him? Zero. Nada. You can live in denial all you want but these are the facts and they are indisputable

u right Mcgrath I misrepresented that - KJ is G-League my bad I was wrong. But I'd have taken him over Reath at that relative time and so would have anyone else.

Of course, they were two of his better players and he was giving them both a chance to play in the SEC, easy sell. He brought the other one over and kept playing him even though he sucked and even took him back after he sulked an kept playing him.....one of the things I think we all can agree was a error he made in his year one learing exprience and I would say he learned well...credit to him he didn't put up with that shite with a much more talented player in Cook.

I think you went too far with your "really good players" too. Hell I'd say Fountain and Epps are very comparable players and Fountain was a deep bench player at State that would have gone to any SEC team that would offer. Epps and Fountain played both 4 years in the SEC and averaged virtually the identical PPG over that span.

You seem to think I'm trying to dog CMM in comparison to WW. I'm not. I'm just pushing back on your comment that WW inherited alot of talent and I will every time you make that comment.

Wade is a better coach than McMahon and has had a lot more success thus far in his career. To say otherwise would be silly, IMO.

I predict that Wade will continue to outshine McMahon over the next ten years. Time will tell.

Every freaking basketball thread regardless of the topic turns into a Will Wade debate. So frustrating.

Man, all the hostility on W. Wade vs McMahon!

I kinda like to go with the “fan of LSU” vs. any 1 coach.

WW may be the better fundamentals coach, but he sure shite the bed on how he handled other aspects that go along with being a good BB coach!!! Such as: how to handle recruiting nuts & bolts while on your gott-damm cell phone. That’s all part of the job too. And there was no secret the NCAA was hot & heavy on the trail of the “handler” when WW was having his infamous phone conversations.

At the end of the day, I’ll go with the present coach. I didn’t like the Ed Orgeron hire. And still wish I could’ve been a fly on the wall when his agent asked for the obligatory contract clause: “If I win a National Championship, I want to be the highest paid coach in the SEC”! Don’t ya know the LSU reps were having hell not busting out in laughter!!! And the guy puts together the greatest college football team of all times. (In fact, our last 2 FB Natty’s were put together by 2 of the biggest boobs in the annals of NCAA football. But I’ll take em. And am thankful for the coaches that were at the helm when they occurred)!

The NCAA had no clue there was an FBI investigation going on. Let alone the coaches. At no point in the history of college basketball had the US government investigated recruiting. Ever. So yes, all coaches should have been on guard the may get caught in the crosswires of what would become one of the most overhyped and irrelevant criminal cases in modern times.

I'd have said the same of Epps and Reath when they were here.

Reath didn't go from College to the NBA, he was VERY, VERY raw when he was here, had not played much organized ball. If fact because he was so raw he went undrafted and in 2018 and it took him 6 years to develop and mature and become and NBA talent.

The fact that some, maybe just you, keep hyping him as an example of NBA talent WW inherited his first year is a seismic and honestly comical reach.

He was nothing of the sort and not even close to that when he was here and one of the reasons I'll push back on this every time. His talent when he was HERE was what WW inherited, not his talent 6 years later. Epps averaged 5 points a game over his 4-year career here (same as Fountains 4-year average in the SEC in his career), Sampson 7. I was here for Mays first year, watched every game, he was out of control and not ready for this level of ball.

So every time that list of "Really good players" is put out as some sort of proof of what talent WW inherited I will push back, because as you can see I 100% disagree.
