Two each.

I don't even think the NIT wants to see this team play again.

We would actually need 14 to get in. I believe South Carolina is ahead of us in the relevant metrics.
I think it depends on how they weight the systems. SC is ahead in some metrics and behind in others. I would consider the 3 most accurate indicators of which team is better favor South Carolina. Ken Pom, NET, and Torvik.

The NIT uses something called a KNIT score for the 2 auto qualifiers from each ACC and SEC and 1 auto qualifier from 12 other conferences.
The KNIT - which is new to me - is a combination of Kenpom, NET, BPI and others. That could put USCe ahead of us regardless of regular season standings. I know they’re ahead in Kenpom.

Not accepting it would be a total embarrassment.
Why? Stealing a bid from an actually deserving team then losing by 30 to North Texas or some shite would be embarrassing.

We should accept any forthcoming NIT invite. For this reason: South Carolina will certainly accept theirs, and they have actually WON the NIT a couple of times!
I would love to see SC win it this year; they're apparently a decent team that hasn't had a knack for finishing out games, but they have real talent with CMB, Pringle and Thomas and could win it all. Likewise, LSU needs to accept-- maybe they'll get paired with Texas Southern in the PMAC first round, and lose. The more egg on the face of Scott Woodward, and McMahon, the better.

Yep. I don’t know if it’s averaged or weighted, SC is ahead in the metrics I consider to be more of an indicator of how good a team is. But I don’t really know.

Agree with the rationale that you can’t decline thus admitting you’re in an active dumpster fire situation while retaining McMahon like nothing is wrong. With state of the team, declining seems to be consistent with current mindset of players and coaches. An auto bid to the NIT might force Woodwards hand. Don’t think they can decline it without being under the microscope of scrutiny. Would be really interesting if this occurs.

So just pretend we aren't an active dumpster fire situation and retain McMahon like nothing is wrong?

Force them to poke the announcers a few more times to tell us they'll be more money for NIL this offseason.

Agreed if they played that would likely be the angle pushed by LSU to cover their obviously terrible decision. With V Miller and Chest out due to “injuries,” do other players opt out too and refuse to play? I have no idea. Sears seems like he would want to play with his IG/twitter post. I could see other players emotionally checked out and resigned to transfer and refuse to play. That’s a lot of mind reading by me, but it feels to me like LSU limped to finish line and no one wants to play again thus you’d be setting yourself up for another embarrassment that’s also not good for retaining McMahon narrative if that were to occur.

frick you. It’s a legit question. And frick you other guys laughing at this. We may be in the situation to have to decide. Look at the NIT bid rules.

With the deal negotiated witht he SEC for two teams, will they press for LSU to accept?
Is there an agreement in place by SEC schools to accept the offer if they are one of the two offered?

Please explain.
There is no acceptable reason for this season to continue any longer. It needed to end yesterday, which it did.
Lett some other team who gives a shite and deserves to continue play instead.

Who wants this miserable season to be extended for something as meaningless as the NIT tournament is these days.
This season needs to be put out of its misery.
The NIT needs to go the way of the dinosaur.

If LSU and USCe make the NIT, what a joke that is. Maybe LSU will play Southern, the SWAC regular season champs who lost in conference tourney.

Would Texas steal a bid from another SEC team, keeping the SEC at getting 13 teams in?
